The Surfer’s Loft is an architecturally designed self contained cottage in a converted historic boat shed. The property dates back to the mid 1900’s as a boat shed for one of Tamarama Beach’s early local landowners, and was recently renovated by award winning local architects Alexander & Co, bringing coastal luxury to this historic and uniquely located property. Polished concrete floors and brushed plaster walls complement dark oak timber joinery, coastal light fixtures, and linen blinds and curtains. Light and air streams through floor-to-ceiling bifold doors and louvre windows onto the cosy living area that includes an MCM House sofa and internet connected television, with temperature controlled by reverse cycle air conditioning. The kitchenette features everything required for a short stay with Nespresso coffee machine, Smeg kettle, toaster, bar fridge, microwave, Ecology dinnerware, cutlery and utensils. A Weber gas barbeque on the sun deck is perfect for summer barbeques and alfresco dining with Homecamp folding deck chairs.
The cleverly designed bathroom is nestled underneath the loft bed and maintains the beachside feel with timber floorboards, Bondi Wash bathroom products and fragrance.
The outdoor patio is lovely with direct access to the lush Tamarama park through a code-secured gate and an outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach.
Tamarama Beach is just footsteps away across Pacific Avenue, or drop directly onto the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk to enjoy one of the world’s most iconic coastal experiences. Find a spot for a sunset picnic on the beach or along the coastline, or stay in and cosy up on the couch or the sun deck with a selection of games including cards, backgammon, quoits and the holiday classic Jenga.
Other services available for guests include beach towels, hair dryer, clothes steamer, sunscreen, portable Bose speaker, beach bag and a comprehensive guide to local swimming areas and activities.
There is street parking only. You can park by the beach or up top on Carlisle St for access to property. You don’t need a permit for parking. There are no time restrictions.
There is a bus stop located just a minute walk away by the beach. Public transport is recommended as finding a parking space can be a bit tricky in summer!

Want to know more? Learn all about the fascinating projects you’re contributing to below:
Against Malaria Foundation - We protect people from malaria. We fund nets and ensure they are distributed and used. We show you where the nets go. We monitor and report their use and impact. Each net costs about $2.00, lasts for 3 to 4 years, and protects on average two people. The statistics are well known given the scale of the problem. Every ~600 nets we put over heads and beds, one child doesn't die and 500 to 1,000 cases of malaria are prevented.
Sea Shepherd - Our mission is to protect defenseless marine wildlife and end the destruction of habitat in the world’s oceans. Since 1977, Sea Shepherd has used innovative direct action tactics to defend, conserve and protect the delicately-balanced biodiversity of our seas and enforce international conservation laws. Our ships, mainly crewed by passionate volunteers, have saved over 6000 whales from the Japanese harpoon ships in the dangerous Antarctic waters. We have stood up to seal hunters, hauled in miles of illegal fishing gear, and relentlessly chased one of the world’s most notorious poaching vessels for 110 days until they scuttled their own ship in defeat.
Yalari - Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality, secondary education scholarships at leading Australian boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities. In 2022, we have over 250 students on Yalari scholarships nationally. We have an alumni group of 380 studying at universities, working or undertaking further training.
WAGEC (Women's and Girl's Emergency Centre) - a feminist, grassroots organisation based in Redfern that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence and systemic disadvantage. We do this by providing material aid, case management, biopsychosocial support, accommodation, and crisis responses.
