The home is lovely! It's architecturally fascinating, with remarkable wood details throughout. The beds are extremely comfortable, as is the living room. The home's location is great - close to the bike trail and Sooke, but also secluded and quiet. The home is equipped with 4 e-bikes and kayaks which we enjoyed. The home's caretaker was EXTREMELY responsive and kind. Really a great place. HIGHLY recommended!!
An absolutely amazing place. My entire family loved being there - very peaceful.
Being on the ocean was something special - we loved taking the kayaks out into Sooke Basin and looking at all the marine life.
The accommodations were outstanding - my favorite room in the house was the "great room", it reminded me of being in my own private hotel lobby. My favorite space was the deck and being able to look out on the ocean during the day and the stars at night.
Rudi was great to deal with, I highly recommend staying here!
I wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin and the surrounding were beautiful and were beyond my expectations. The detail of the wood finishing on the interior was exceptional. The grandkids enjoyed the "nest"
on top of the dragon staircase. The bedding and showers made for great sleeping. Rudi was an excellent host.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rudis Cabin. The property is incredible; Amazing views, and a wraparound deck to enjoy a bottle of wine and sunset. The kids loved the dock, We were all out in the kayaks every day and the e-bikes gave us a great option to explore the trails in the area. Rudi was responsive and great to communicate with. Would definitely recommend!
This spot is hard to describe, but if you are looking for a place to recharge the soul, look no further. The property is stunning, secluded, and has everything you could ask for in the way of escaping the everyday grind of life. Jump in a kayak and watch the sunset, take a hike through the woods and grab a bike for a ride on the trails. The property is well managed, meticulously maintained and deserves tenants that appreciate the care and craftsmanship it took to make it available to rent. We would stay here again in an instant.
We had a fantastic time staying in this A Frame cabin for almost two weeks. The views are hard to beat and there’s no shortage of activities to do. The place has so much character and exploring the property was an activity in and of itself.
Amazing home overlooking the bay. The woodwork is beautiful and the house was a great set up for 4 adults. Sunsets were beautiful. We loved riding in the forest on the e bikes and kayaking out to see the harbor seals in the bay. Rudi was easy to communicate with and always available when we needed him.
Perfect house for a quiet and relaxing family vacation
Great location. The house had everything we need to make the stay comfortable. We also enjoyed the architectural details of the house. It was a very special experience.

I've lived in the area all my life and enjoy welcoming visitors from all over the world to our little slice of paradise.
Why they chose this property
Sooke Basin is a protected bay on the south tip of Vancouver Island, and home to all kinds of wildlife, both in the sea and on land. The house is built among old growth forests and between two seasonal creeks, with a rocky shore and a private dock. Built in 1968, the original owners spared no expense with the finest local wood finished by European craftsmen that also built the historic Grouse Nest Resort nearby.
What makes this property unique
Enjoy a peaceful day lounging on the deck, watch for hummingbirds, kingfishers, and eagles flying by -- or look for seals & otters playing in the cove. Go paddling along the shore or row to a nearby island for a picnic, and if it's warm enough jump off the dock for a refreshing swim. Explore the woods nearby or sit by the creek and read a book. Take the e-bikes for a ride along the Galloping Goose regional park corridor, which can take you all the way to downtown Victoria!
