Pleasant house, OK location, but awful-smelling/tasting water
The house is very nice, clean, and spacious. The hot tub is large and in excellent condition. Importantly, the heating was good and effective, something we've found lacking in other cabins in this area. The location is OK, but the satellite map location on the listing is not accurate--it makes it look like this house is on a huge forested lot and very private, but in reality it is a modest-sized property with a small back yard, surrounded by several other houses nearby, although it is still in a heavily forested area. However, please be aware that there is one *huge* problem with this house: the tap water (which I assume comes from a well) has a VERY strong sulfur and iron smell, which makes it extremely unpleasant to drink and unbearable to shower with. Simply turning on the tap fills the room with a sulfur smell. We ended up taking only one shower during our 5-day stay due to the smell, and we both developed indigestion from drinking the water. The owner absolutely needs to install on-faucet water filters on the kitchen and bathroom faucets to address the smell and taste. Also, the refrigerator has a water filter/dispenser, which could've helped, but it was not working! We ended up having to drive into La Pine just to fill up our refillable metal bottles for drinking. We strongly believe in drinking tap water and don't buy plastic bottled water, but this experience was so bad we will not be returning here unless filters are installed.
