About this property
Yumba - Beach Views on the Great Ocean Road
Welcome to Yumba – A Magnificent Oceanfront Retreat
Nestled in front of the ocean, this extraordinary property, named Yumba by a family friend, captures the essence of “home.” In the Birri Gubba language, Yumba means “home,” and it’s easy to see why — this house feels like a sanctuary. The family friend, who chose this name, always felt at home here, surrounded by the calming rhythms of the ocean.
Set over three levels, this stunning beach house offers breathtaking front-row ocean views. The continuous ebb and flow of the tides, revealing rocks and seaweed, provide a unique front-row seat to nature’s ever-changing moods. From playful dolphins to migrating whales in winter, every moment spent here is a sublime experience.
Ground Level: Relaxation & Entertainment
The lower level is where you’ll find the entrance, complete with a laundry, bathroom, and powder room for your convenience. The pool room is a highlight, offering ocean views and sliding doors that open onto the lower deck, perfect for indoor-outdoor living.
Middle Level: A Sanctuary for the Senses
The heart of the house is on the middle level, where you’ll be captivated by the ocean views from every angle. Choose your spot to unwind: in the corner watching the world below, on the front deck with the endless ocean horizon, or on the back deck overlooking the lush hills of State Forest.
The kitchen is fully equipped for those who love to cook, and a servery opens out to the back deck, where a rustic outdoor dining table and BBQ await. For cooler nights, enjoy the warmth of the wood-fired stove, though the hydronic heating throughout the home ensures you'll be comfortable year-round. The master bedroom is also located on this level, complete with an adjoining bathroom for ultimate convenience. With split systems for cooling, though the sea breeze often makes them unnecessary, comfort is always guaranteed.
Upper Level: Rest & Recharge
The top level features two spacious bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom.
Eclectic Interiors with a Personal Touch
The furnishings reflect the owners’ travels, with a collection of special pieces and original artwork showcasing the work of talented Australian artists. The unique design of the house blends warmth, character, and charm in every corner, creating an inviting atmosphere throughout.
Outdoor Amenities
Step outside and enjoy the stunning outdoor spaces, including a tennis court (ideal for a friendly game), a two-minute walk to the beach, and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand before heading inside.
Local Charm
Located just moments from the charming Aireys Inlet, you'll find a variety of wonderful restaurants, cafes, and a French patisserie. The famous Top Shop is also nearby, serving up local delights.
A Place You'll Never Want to Leave
With its unparalleled views, eclectic charm, and proximity to everything you could need, Yumba offers an unforgettable experience. The hardest part? Leaving it behind.
Please Note - this house is on tank water and has a septic tank, so some care needs to be taken with water and waste.
This home has a no party policy and we request our guests respect that no loud music should be played at any time of the day or night. In the interests of our neighbours, we ask our guests to please move indoors by 11pm.
Sorry no hens, bucks and absolutely no schoolies bookings of any kind, not even quiet ones.
