About this property

Lupinfield Cottage - a Curated Experience

Welcome to Lupinfield Cottage, a place and space which steps you back in time. This historic 4 bedroom vacation home in picturesque Twillingate, nestled on the bay is cozy and charming with uniquely designed living spaces indoors and out. Ideal for couples & families, this home features a wood burning stove, soaker clawfoot tub, 2 bathrooms, laundry and plenty of room to enjoy.

To fully experience the magic of Lupinfield and Twillingate combined, we highly recommend a minimum stay of 3 nights.

Lupinfield Cottage offers you a unique Newfoundland experience with a curated vintage vibe. The home has lots of natural light which dances through the windows with wavy antique glass, passing from room to room throughout the day. As daylight fades, the cottage becomes softly illuminated with the warmth of vintage lighting and candlelight (if you wish) throughout.

The heart of the home is the kitchen, which welcomes you with a spacious open layout and A large harvest table. Gatherings are cozy in this space, enjoying the the warmth of a crackling fire in the woodstove. Perfect for our grey foggy days. A charming galley kitchen, affectionately dubbed 'the butler's pantry,' is stocked with an array of spices and everything you might need to for preparing a home cooked meal.

Upstairs you’ll find the 4 unique bedrooms, with 2 queen and 2 double-sized beds. Each bed is outfitted with comfortable mattresses, pillows and clothesline fresh linens. Perfect for a great night’s sleep.

Outside, the cottage gardens bloom and are all yours to enjoy. The front porch and a dining patio in the side yard allow you to catch sunshine while enjoying your meals outdoors watching the fishing boats come and go.

Tucked behind the house in the backyard is a large yoga platform which is also yours to enjoy. A meandering trail cut through the lupin fields and fruit trees makes the perfect spot for games of tag and hide & seek. Across the road is a rocky beach with wooden beach chairs perfect for lounging, beach combing and dips on hot summer days. In the converted sheep shed is a pop-up antique shop which I occasionally open to the public and is also yours to snoop through (if you wish!).

For guests taller than 6 feet, just a heads-up, the cottage retains most of its original 19th century architecture. This includes its old fashioned lower ceiling heights, with a maximum height of 7’ in some rooms!

Also notable are the original 19th century wood windows. While one or two of them may get cranky with changing weather all the windows work wonderfully and have been reglazed and restored. In the cooler seasons I put on storm windows which have traditional three small air holes with a flap for fresh air intake. Storm windows will typically be removed at the end of May.

Parking for your car is in the driveway before the house, beside the root cellar. There is also additional parking for extra vehicles.

Lupinfield Cottage is a registered accommodations business with the Town of Twillingate and the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. Our Registration Number is 4523.

This was one of the most magical places and our host was so friendly and kind. We hiked, swam and ate at Twillingate and enjoyed every minute.

An old fashioned house with all the extra little touches

Charlie has lovingly restored this delightful house, respecting it's heritage with every detail, while providing all modern conveniences. He was a wonderful host in every way and we'd highly recommend a stay. You're on the edge of the ocean and folks greet to you as you pass. A most welcoming community.

Hi, we’re Nancy and Charlie, a mother and son team who share a love for history and hospitality. With two heritage home rentals, we take pride in being stewards of the past, preserving and sharing these special spaces with our guests.

At Lupinfield Cottage and The Pumpkin House, we’ve lovingly restored each home to offer a thoughtfully curated guesthouse experience… where comfort meets nostalgia and stepping inside feels like traveling back in time.

Like mother, like son, we’re both passionate about preservation and love sharing the quirks and charms of days gone by. As proud Twillingaters, we warmly welcome you to our town and this beautiful island we call home.

Why they chose this property

Farmer's Arm Road is one of the gems of this town, where you can walk the street along the coastline and feel like you've been transported to another time. Colourful houses, beaches, gardens and fences make this a photographer's dream come true. The neighbours you'll meet are lovely, one of them is a shipyard where you can watch the boats come and go.

Famous for its reputation of being the 'Iceberg Capital of the World'. As early as April to June, these massive ice sculptures literally drift in and around Iceberg Alley.

Twillingate has an impressive coastal hiking trail, very well maintained and known as the Rockcut Trails - something that you'll want to pack your hiking boots for. They feature over 25kms of trails which literally take you all around Twillingate's southern and northern islands. Here we love hiking and there's a trail for absolutely everyone's level.

What makes this property unique

Our properties offer a deeply personal and curated experience, where every detail is thoughtfully designed to make your stay unique and memorable.
