The space
The Bonnie Inn is a nostalgic motel built in the 1940s by Mr. Moore, a local resident of San Andreas who worked at the Calaveras Cement plant which has been closed for several decades. Mr. Moore built the inn with cement bricks he made himself one by one, added an adobe tile roof, and named it the San Andreas Motel. At that time, Highway 49 was not much more than a dirt road surrounded by the foothills of the Sierra Nevada dotted with oaks and pines. The inn was purchased in the 1970s by Bonnie Janssen who renamed the motel Bonnie's Inn. Bonnie spent many years of her life turning the inn into a warm, bright, and welcoming place where people from all over the country, even the world, came to stay. Her style, passion, endless work, and love can still be felt by those who spend time at the Bonnie Inn among the antiques, art, and long-established foliage situated on the property. Not to forget the thousands of California Poppies that bloom every spring peppering the landscape creating a carpet of orange.
The Bonnie Inn was purchased in 2021 after the inn had been closed for several years. The ambiance and charm of the inn are now infused with the eclectic vision of the new owner whose wish is to continue the tradition of the warm, welcoming, unique place Bonnie started where travelers can rest comfortably as they weave their way through the Historic Gold Country on Highway 49.
Room 1 features a queen size bed, table with 2 chairs, additional chair for relaxing, bathroom with shower and toiletries, television with Firestick TV, free WiFi, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker with assorted coffee and teas, iron and ironing board.
There is outdoor seating just outside the front door of the room and free parking.
No smoking or pets allowed.
