Nestled on two acres with Aldgate Creek running through the property, our captivating home gets you in touch with nature while enjoying the warmth of modern vintage charm inside. Enjoy lazy winter days in front of the wood fire, afternoons that turn into evenings of laughter and wine on the deck, explore the beauty and the bridge of the creek or relish in the vast open space where you can play soccer, tag or cricket on the oval size lawn. A place that creates wonderful family memories.
Our place has a mid-century retro feel with its raked beamed ceilings, split level design and gorgeous picture windows lapping up the view of the natural surrounds. Welcome inside and love the openness and light, and step down from the foyer into the open plan living and dining area with its wood heater, painted brick walls and rustic furniture including a dining table for 8.
The kitchen caters for every family need with its French door fridge, built in microwave and fun eclectic colours. There’s a high chair ready for your little one and plenty of children tableware options.
The bedrooms each have their own personality and splash of colour, with three of the bedrooms with wardrobes, and the main with an ensuite.
The bathrooms are renovated to bring contemporary flavour to the earthy retro theme with their organic stone shaped basins, orange vertical tiling, and terrazzo style accents.
The alfresco deck has a setting for 6 and wraps around the edge of the home to view the creek from above.
The gardens have so much on offer… you could spot a rabbit running across the lawn or a koala in the trees, you can pick organic seasonal blackberries, lemons and oranges from the trees, there are children’s bikes to ride, wicker chairs by the creek and a gorgeous display of ever changing colour in the towering trees. The creek is reminiscent of an English county town with its stone wall, gorgeous bridge and babbling water… who knows, you might spot a fish or two.
There are plenty of indoor/outdoor stairs and heights, plus the safety of the creek to consider for young families, yet it’s an amazing place to explore your children’s adventurous side checking out.
The home has security doors and a double carport.
We love that our home has an affinity with nature, sitting as one with the trees on the edge of the creek. It’s so relaxing and position perfect in the heart of the Adelaide Hills.
In the heart of the Adelaide Hills, our home is an easy walk to Mount Barker Road for a selection of restaurants (pizza, Japanese, Chinese, cafes, paddock to plate, takeaways, the Aldgate Pump Hotel which was opened in 1864 and if you want to go a little further beyond, you’ll find The Bridgewater Inn.
We are only a 14 minute drive to Hahndorf where you will find some world-class wineries including Deviation Road Winery, Sidewood Estate, Shaw and Smith, Cobbs Hill Estate, Howard Winery, Murdoch Hill, Ashton Hills Vineyard or Petaluma Wine, the famous Beerenberg Farm and the Jurlique biodynamic farm if you love some skincare.
The kids will love Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary, or you can explore Mt George Conservation Park, Mount Lofty Summit, Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens or Belair National Park.
There are historic homes to visit including Stangate House and Garden, and Wairoa. The Adelaide Hills is also known for its cycling, so there are plenty of bike shops and even a Triathlon club nearby.
There is a supermarket (Foodland) to get your grocery essentials and a historic railway station (c1883) to explore that’s no longer in use. And if you want some ‘me time’, check out the day spas at Breathe Indulgence and Beauty, Hahndorf Creek Day Spa or the Temple Day Spa, all highly recommended.
