An absolute gem
We loved the train carriage with its gorgeous mix of old train charm and modern furnishings. Lush linen sheets and covers, vibrant Ausralian print cushions and pops of colour by way of sunny yellow toaster and kettle. The hosts were amazing, great communication, friendly chats, super relaxed and accomodating including fresh baked anzac biscuits that were irresistable down to the last crumb. We barbequed on the deck, gazed at the milky way so clear away from the city lights, ate at the locals pub down the road wtih cold drinks and generoud pub food.We loved the chooks and the resident dogs Max and Roy who love everyone and greet you at the gate.Must do country experience.

Something out of the ordinary
Eldest child loves trains so decided to indulge him in a stay here. Host was amazing, train exactly as presented. Delightful and peaceful but not far from town. Would highly recommend when you want some quirky accomodation to relax and recharge at.

Great Holiday for our young family
Our kids loved staying here, they loved playing with the dogs, watching the chickens, and sleeping in a TRAIN! Despite it being freezing outside, the carriage was cosy, and surprisingly child-friendly with not too many things to hideaway from little hands.

The most wonderful place
This lovely place exceeded our expectations. The sleeper carriage is amazing and beautifully set up for visitors. It was such fun and so comfortable. Robyn is the best of hosts and has such attention to detail. From sitting out under the canopy enjoying the view to sleeping in beautiful linen sheets. The character of the train has been preserved without compromising on comfort. Cannot recommend more enthusiastically.

Just right
5 stars all round! Our short stay was above the quality we had hoped, hosts were lovely and have us all the space and privacy the beautiful countryside could afford, and sleep was dreamy and undisturbed. Felt right at home although far away :)

About the host

Hosted by Robyn

WELCOME! Greetings from your hosts, Robyn & Chris.

When Chris proposed his wild train idea, Robyn enthusiastically agreed, saying 'YES, let's do it!' The quest for the perfect carriage began, and soon enough, a carriage was being craned into Seldon Park, marking the start of an incredible journey.

The real work kicked off with Chris the Carpenter leading the construction, while Robyn rallied friends and family for painting and plumbing tasks. With Robyn's expertise in styling and dressmaking, the carriage was transformed from an old decommissioned Queenslander into a delightful and quirky getaway train.
While adding mod cons we have kept the sleeper carriage very original, with 4 perfectly intact double bunk sleeper rooms,
we took out a wall to add a double bedroom. Then another to save the small but quirky guards kitchen! Then came the deck! the perfect space to BBQ while enjoying the beautiful exhibited gardens, Orchard, Trains rolling by, views towards Bathurst and beyond. The sunset and stars are a wonder to behold!

Slowly but surely, the carriage took shape, promising a wonderful experience. We are thrilled to share our creation with you and hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We have owned Seldon Park for 11 years and have spent that time renovating both the house and the property. We love the ambience of our 20 Acres with Orchid providing a perfect space to sit in nature and an abundance of fruit during Summer, Robyns garden has established and was exhibited in the Bathurst Spring Spectacular in 2023 with 8 hundred visitors over the October weekend! If you a garden lover Robyn will be happy to give you a tour! Perthville itself is a lovely peaceful village perfect for a walk in the crisp morning air, it boasts an old world bluestone pub perfect for a cold beer and classic pub food!
Bathurst is only 8kms away with so much to see and do giving you the best of both country and city life!

What makes this property unique
