About this property
Island Beach Cottage includes boat
On the shores of Lake Huron, lays a charmingly quaint cottage nestled in the trees on Chicken Island.
From the boat launch in Port Franks, you’ll load your goodies into our boat that’ll be fueled up, equipped with lifejackets and ready to go. Within a minute or two, you’ll be across the river and pull up to the private floating dock at Chicken Island Beach Cottage. We promise it won’t be long before your cares drift away and you disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the everyday.

FAQs
Q: What is your cancellation policy? How does COVID-19 affect it?
A: Travelers who cancel at least 60 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid. If they cancel after that point, they will not get a refund. As for COVID-19 restrictions, kindly refer to VRBO's policies or contact their support line.
Q: Is the cottage beachfront? Can you see the lake from there?
A: While it is surrounded by beaches, the cottage itself is tucked away in the trees. The beach is a short 50 feet away from the door of the cottage. Through the trees you can catch a glimpse of the boats going down the river and from the front patio you’ll enjoy a gorgeous view of the lake glistening.
We are the second cottage in from the tip of the island.
Q: Is there a washer/dryer or dishwasher.
A: No. This is also why you must bring your own bedding and towels. Please pack lightly.
Q: Can you drive to the cottage?
A: No. It is on an island and only accessible by crossing the river by boat. It takes about a minute or two to cross over to the dock. There are no roads in the island, just winding sandy pathways.
Q: Where do we park?
A: There is parking at the boat launch for ONE vehicle. We will provide you with one parking pass. Alternative parking for extra cars is detailed in the welcome guide, you’ll find ample free parking along the roadside. We will provide further information prior to your stay.
Q: Can we bring our own boat or pontoon?
A: Absolutely! The boat launch is at the old Christine’s Pub & Grill in Port Franks. And you may use our dock (no dock or slip fees!) directly across the river.
Q: Do you need a license to operate the boat?
A: No. With the size of the boat and motor, a license is not required. Some boating experience always helps but not necessary. If your nervous to use the motor, use the oars. It’ll only take you an extra minute to cross the narrow river.
Q: How much luggage/goods can we bring across?
A: There’s plenty of room in the 12-foot tin boat, but it depends on the number of people you’re transporting as well. But you’re welcome to make as many trips as you need to! Do yourself a favour and Pack lightly!!!
Q: Do you have internet access?
A: Yes! There is WiFi on the island and a smart TV. We will provide you with passwords upon confirmed booking.
Q. Do you have central air?
A. YES! In the past we could only provide a window air conditioner. We our new renovation we were able to incorporate full central air.
The bunkie has a window air conditioner.
Q: Do we bring our own linens and toiletries, etc.?
A: Yes. Guests should bring their own linens – towels, blankets, etc.
Q: Where is the nearest convenience store?
A: All amenities are located on the mainland, so be sure to make a list pack well but lightly for your stay!
