About this property

Grand Canyon North Rim + Zion, Bryce, Grand Staircase, The Wave and Lake Powell

So many folks tell us that when they walk inside The Jackson House for the first time the first word they utter is 'Wow!' Guests are initially impressed by the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of the home and the attention to detail for cleanliness and comfort. As guests continue on the tour of the home they see that each room offers period antiques and can see the restoration of hard wood floors, spun glass windows, wood trim and flowering gardens. The home offers early 1900's charm with modern expectations such as feather topped beds, down comforters, and soft linens. The Jackson home takes you back in time to when people sat on the front porch sipping fresh lemonade and gathered together to create memories that would last a lifetime.

Guests are impressed to see a fully stocked modern kitchen, period bathroom complete with a claw-foot tub, inviting library full of books, cascading stream in the backyard, three car garage, and entertainment room with lg panel smart tv, bar, fridge, and microwave.

Although the inside of the Jackson House is amazing, the 'Wow' factor continues as guests see the backyard for the first time! A cascading river flows through the private desert oasis! There is a large patio and BBQ where you can gather your friends and family together for delicious meals. Subtle outdoor lighting allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of the backyard and the stars at the same time.

Just when guests think they have seen the entire home, they discover the basement entertainment room which is privately located at the far east side of the home. The entertainment room comes complete with a large flat screen TV, serving bar, microwave, mini fridge, game table, two large leather couches, games and movies. This area can be used as a 5th family bedroom.

The home offers 4 bedroom + 4 cubby sleeping areas, 3 baths, living room, family room, dining room, entertainment room, three car garage and plenty of parking for an RV or multiple cars. The Jackson House can accommodate large groups but the nightly rental rate is perfect for couples and small parties. The home sleeps 8 in beds but guests can also use the pull out queen sofa and sleeping mats.

The Jackson House is pet friendly. The yard is fully fenced to keep your pet safe and protected. On the side of the house there is a dog run complete with a dog door that leads into a secure kennel inside the garage. Sorry no cats due to homeowners allergies.

The Jackson House is located only 5 miles from Kanab, Utah where you can grocery shop, visit tourist attractions, and enjoy entertainment. If you don't feel like driving you can walk right across the street and enjoy a meal at the Cowboy Butte Grill. You can also stroll two blocks down and splash in the town swimming pool or play at the new park.

If you are looking for more things to do during your free time, the Jackson House comes with plenty of extras to help you enjoy your vacation. There is a large area to play basketball and a pool table for family fun.

The Jackson House provides the perfect base from which to explore Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Grand Staircase National Park and all of Southern Utah. We are also only 45 minutes to The North Rim of the Grand Canyon which is the hidden Jewel of Arizona. The North Rim is less crowded, more spectacular, and offers cooler temperatures. There is so much to do in this area, but you may find the Jackson House to be so relaxing and rejuvenating that you never want to leave the front porch!

Great place
We had a really nice experience and highly recommend this place. We were 6 adults and 1 dog. The house was charming with a nicely equipped kitchen, and a good sized dining room and living room. The man cave downstairs was a nice touch as was the spacious outside space with fenced in yards. Two of the bedrooms are nice and big. The other two rooms have a single with a trundle. The trundle bed frames are a bit squeaky so putting the mattress on the ground was better. Watch out for speed traps. That main street in Fredonia has a ton of cops.

This was the perfect location to visit the three major national parks, Zion, Brice, and the Grand Canyon. The home was well set up and easy to find. We had 5 in our party but could sleep considerably more. Would definitely stay again when in the area.

A Gem of a Home!
The longer we stayed at the Jackson House, the more gems we uncovered: *Well-stocked kitchen, including cooking oil, ample dishware, pots and pans, Ziploc bags, etc. *Bathrooms/linen closets with ample supply of towels and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash). *Plenty of space for a large group to spread out. *Outside hose for rinsing off sandy/dusty hiking boots and outerwear. *Very cute backyard with two patio sets and a functional gas grill. *Lovely front porch sitting area with rocking chairs. *Location is on a state route, making navigation to National Parks easier. *Nice laundry room, including a “tucked away” laundry bin (I want one of these for my home!). *Surprisingly, the stairs going to the upper level were quiet and did not disturb light sleepers. *Lamps in the bedrooms had outlets in the base for phone charging, etc. *Amazingly organized, with a binder (refer to this if you stay here!) describing nuances or common questions about the home. i.e. light and garbage disposal switches were labeled for clarification. *Certainly was a relaxing place to “crash” after a long day of hiking at National Parks. *The décor reflected the character of the home; the binder put the reader in touch with the history of the Jackson House and the immense care and love put into making this a welcoming place to stay. *Although we only had adults in our group, this home is accommodating for children!

Wonderful Stay in Fredonia
The Jackson House is an incredible property. The home is charming, beautiful and offers lots of amenities. My family enjoyed the space. We were a party of six and there was move than enough room. The pool table was lots of fun and we all enjoyed the front porch. The home was a wonderful home base as we explored the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon. The home was comfortable, clean and everything we could ask for. We hope we get a chance to visit again.

Couldn’t be happier 😁
My family and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this house!!! The location was perfect!! We visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Hiked the full trail of the Narrows in Zion National Park, Sand Caves, Coral Pink Sand Dunes and many more. I loved coming back to the house and relaxing after our busy days. We grilled out, played basketball, and loved the front porch sitting in the early mornings. I would definitely stay again here.

Nice area, Nice house
We had a great time. We honestly weren't in the house much because there was so much to do and we were s busy. The house was very nice though. It was clean and spacious. There were 6 of us, myself, my husband and 3 of my kids (2 are adults). Everyone was able to have their own space and everyone was happy with it. Thank you

Old house, nicely updated
This is an old house with lots of character. There were four little playrooms that the kids loved. Everything was clean and there was lots of room. The bathrooms and kitchen are updated and nice. My only complaint is that there was only one TV way down in the basement which was freezing cold when we stayed. It would have been nice to have a TV in one of the several sitting rooms on the main floor.

A Perfect Getaway
We absolutely loved staying at this property. We wanted to spend time together as a family, and we did! We made good use of the games in the cabinets as well as the chess board, and the bin of sports equipment in the garage. The location was close to amazing hiking experiences of all levels. We really enjoyed Belly of the Dragon and Toadstools. The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary was also so fun! The home had so many beds that everyone was comfy. We would love to stay here again.

Amazing Spring Break!!
The eight of us (3 adults, 4 big teens, the dog) loved our stay! The property was beautiful, had tons of space for everyone to spread out, was stocked with all essentials, and was the perfect “travel from” location. We visited Bryce Canyon, Zion, Kanab Caves, Sand Dunes, and did a trip to Flagstaff (NAU). The scenery for all trips was beautiful! After a day of driving and exploring, we came back to the house to unwind, cook dinner, and hang out together. It was perfect, and having a home that was so well maintained and comfortable made it even more so!

Perfect stop on our way to North Rim of Grand Canyon
Lovely older home with tons of character. We were on a month long camping trip and needed a break. House had everything we needed and was a great resting place. Probably could have done day trips to other national parks from this house. We were able to pull our trailer up next to the large garage, clean everything out and resupply before continuing our adventure.

Great location
House and location was great. Nice to sit in there rocking chairs and watch traffic pass the green front yard lined with trees and a picket fence. Very picturesque. The side yard was very nice too. Only about an hour to Zion or Grand Canyon and tons of other stuff. The stuff that could be better, -WiFi doesn’t reach basement, minor inconvenience and mildly annoying. -Slow draining shower😢 -the beds…. By far the beds are the most disappointing thing of the whole stay. I would highly recommend replacing every single bed.

old house problems
The HVAC system is not properly designed. Some rooms were too cold, others too hot. Also, house is sinking on one side, so the head of the bed is slightly lower than the feet, causing stomach acid to creep into your throat while you sleep. Turn your body around, like I did to counter act.

In 1991 Scott and Traci met while working as river guides in the Grand Canyon. At the time, Scott’s parents owned The Jackson House and operated it as a Bed & Breakfast. Scott and Traci had their wedding reception in the front room! Little did they know that 15 years later they would purchase The Jackson House. For over five years they completely renovated and remodeled. It has been a labor of love.

The Heaton family now lives in Juneau. They have learned to troll for salmon, fish for halibut, kayak in the open sea, and hike mountain peaks with snow shoes. They love exploring Southeast Alaska hope to one day return to the beauty and serenity of the North Rim.

Why they chose this property

Staying at The Jackson House is an experience that you will always remember. The Jackson House has a soothing spirit that is unique to historic Victorian retreats. This home is the perfect romantic getaway for couples or a relaxing private destination for friends. The home has been completely renovated and offers all the modern conveniences of a new home. Guests can enjoy the private backyard featuring a flowing stream, large patio, and covered swing or take in views of Main Street sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch. The Jackson House is located in Fredonia, AZ which is the closest town to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. If you are looking to explore the Grand Canyon or the parks of Southern Utah, The Jackson house is a perfect place to stay.

What makes this property unique

The Jackson House just feels like going back in time, but with all the modern conveniences. The house is large enough for big groups but cozy enough for a romantic getaway for two. The house is furnished in antiques and the yard is simply amazing!
