First timer.
We booked this property with the event of the polar express planned on Saturday. We checked in Friday night and the house was wonderful. I really enjoyed the journal that was left to write notes about guests stay. I thought there would be a lot more to do in town but we couldn’t find much of anything of interest at the time, so we ended up leaving early Saturday evening.

Brief visit to my hometown for Christmas
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights. The owner was very responsive with any needs or questions we had. The 1941 cottage was charming, comfortable, clean and quiet and very conveniently located . We primarily were there during the evening so I can't speak for using the kitchen or backporch outdoor space but our bed was comfortable, we slept well and the shower hot ! I hope that one day this can be a pet friendly vacation home because we were sad to not have our sweet Golden Retriever travel with us and we would definitely stay here again if that were possible because the Cumberland area is lacking in nice pet friendly places to stay.

Pictures Can Be Deceiving
By all accounts this looks like a wonderful rental on paper; exceptional reviews, beautiful pictures, thorough listing of amenities, but don't be fooled. First of all, the listing is inaccurate. It does not sleep 6. There is only a full bed and a king bed. Even the chairs in the living room are only 5 (no couch), and the dining room table only has 4, so how is it supposed to sleep 6? Second, the kitchen is not outfitted for cooking if that's your thing. There were no pot holders, ice cube trays, measuring cups or spoons, and dish towels. The kitchen items that were there were inadequate or needed to be replenished (an empty plastic wrap box put back in the drawer!). The fire pit is very nice; however, it took us until the second day to figure out how it works as the instructions on the firepit are not correct, and the ones that are correct are located in a "reflections" book in the living room that you wouldn't think to look in unless you wanted to write a comment. But the biggest issue was that when we got there the house had not been cleaned since the last guests, and the “guest contact” person was hard to get a hold of as calls to them went straight to voicemail. Fortunately, the customer service person at Evolve (yeah, this isn’t a Vrbo) was wonderful and gave us a refund of the cleaning fee and some of the rental fee. Positives? It does in fact have WiFi, and the location is great. But that’s it, so renter beware.
