Private solid pine log cottage nestled 120 feet above sea level and over looking the mouth of George's River as it enters the Bras d'Or Lakes. Wilderness and tranquility on an old farm; centrally located on CB Island. Your cottage was constructed here in Nova Scotia of fine, kiln dried Pine logs. Some of the pine used in these logs was salvaged from the damaged trees of a recent Hurricane (Summer Juan) in Point Pleasant park in Halifax. These beautiful Nova Scotia white pine logs were the staple of the Nova Scotia shipbuilding industry in the past, and are rare to see in these sizes and quality. The cabin interiors are finished with clear acrylic-latex or polyurethane finish, so you will enjoy the natural wood look. Our cottage has a private covered decks with a scenic view of the Bras d'Or lake and Highlands. Ideal to relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset at the end of the day. The cottage has an efficiency kitchen with fridge, stove and microwave. We also have a wall mounted TV with Roku, Internet and Satellite TV . VHS/DVD player. Hosts live next door if you need any assistance or would like to explore the property.

The cabin itself is very nice and functions very well. The view down to the lake from the deck is excellent. The air conditioning is good. If cooking food be aware that the stove is very hot and BBQ is not very hot, in fact we cooked steaks at high for over 20 minutes and they were barely medium rare. The bedding is good and beds are comfortable. Bathroom and shower are good. The couch in the sitting area needs to be replaced.

About the host
Hosted by Cyril
I was born in Halifax, a descendant of original settlers of the city, and have roots with the first settlers in Massachusetts, Newfoundland and Cape Breton. My wife is First Nation Mi' kmaw from Gaspe, Quebec. Our farm used to have sheep and was Certified Organic around 2000. We grow some of our own food and spices and I keep a few bee colonies. I am a retired Sailor with most of my career spent with the Canadian Coast Guard
Why they chose this property
Friendly neighbors and a great place to raise our children. Close to the water and good land to farm. My Great Great Grandfather was married nearby and sailed his Brigantine ship from Christie's wharf.
What makes this property unique
The land was old enough to begin growing Certified Organic crops in 1999. I still have Fruit Trees, Nut Trees and Bees on the farm, but no more livestock once I went back to sea. We moved closer to the water on the farm once we built the cottages and are now closer to the original Pioneer ruins from the mid 1800s.
