About this property

Steps to Downtown, Parks, and it's Dog-friendly!

About this space
Offered by sisters Rebecca and Marilyn, Jewell’s is a charming two-bedroom cottage completely renovated in 2020. Decorated with a nod to its Texas roots, it has an eclectic vibe. It provides all the essentials including high-speed internet, one covered parking space (plus two uncovered), and a well-appointed kitchen. You will find many non-essential items are included which will add to your enjoyment of the Cottage.

The two bedrooms are roomy and comfortable (the master bedroom has a Tempurpedic mattress). Located one block from downtown (shopping and restaurants) and 5 local parks including Veterans Park (splashpads), Bark Park, and Skate Park (bring your board). It is just 45 minutes from Austin, and an easy drive to other, Hill Texas communities including Round Top, La Grange, Bastrop and Buescher State Parks.

Our favorite spaces are the eat-in kitchen with its welcoming family-style dining island; the detached deck in the fenced-in back yard that invites you to relax and lounge, with or without a canine friend; and a covered front porch with two rocking chairs as well as a picnic table and benches, ideal for enjoying a conversation or choosing to have a private moment, book in hand and wine glass at the ready while enjoying a lovely sunset.

Downtown is only two blocks away and you can easily walk, enjoying our small-town ambiance with all it has to offer.

Other things to note
Smithville is a lovely place to visit with the intention of relaxing and enjoying the sorts of activities one might expect to find in a small town. Check out the SmithvilIe Chamber of Commerce website and, if you want to explore a little further afield, the "Explore Bastrop County" magazine and the associated website are excellent resources for other nearby possibilities. Smithville is convenient to numerous Hill Country festivals as well as the Circuit of the Americas with all their exciting events, not to mention all the entertainment available in Austin.

Do keep in mind that if you are looking for a comfy location with room for a gathering of family and friends, Ruby's Foxcroft Cottage (listed separately) is located right next door. The two cottages together provide an excellent combination of space and amenities, just coordinate the two calendars. If you'd like any help with doing this, message the hosts. We'd be happy to help.

Sweet home away from home

This was such a lovely place to spend some time. Beautifully appointed!! Big back yard and a grill to boot. The town is quaint and charming with interesting small businesses and a great place to take walks down to see the river or watch the trains. The beds were very comfortable, the appliances were all fairly new and worked great. so many little details. This is a house that has a lot of love present. Thank you!

A friends birthday weekend.

Great. Will for sure stay there again. Close to town. We walked to the Christmas parade. A bunch of extras (coffee, tea, sugar, mini sodas in the fridge among many other extras. Plenty of space. The host was awesome. Any questions we had were answered very timely. Can't wait to go back.

Perfect Spot for a Wedding Stay

We stayed at this property for one night while attending a wedding nearby, and it was absolutely perfect! The location was so convenient, just a short drive from the venue, making it easy to get to and from the celebration. The property itself was spotless, with cozy, comfortable beds and plenty of space to get ready for the big event. The host was very responsive and made check-in/check-out a breeze. The atmosphere was peaceful and charming, providing the ideal place to relax after a busy day. We only stayed for one night, but we felt right at home. I highly recommend this property for anyone attending a wedding or any special occasion – it was a great experience!

Just perfect!

This little house was just perfect! Clean, cute, filled with extras (the scone was delish) and just straight out of a Cottage Magazine. It's location in Smithville was a quick drive to our event in Bastrop. My one complaint is that our event kept us from being there to enjoy it more!

Just adorable!

We loved this little house so much, everything you could possibly need was there! It is a short walk to restaurants and shops. We enjoy the front porch and all the beautiful flowers. We hope to be back soon!

Having reached "a certain age," we wanted to branch out to a small town where we could offer our brand of hospitality to others. Smithville is the perfect location to make that happen; community-focused, a rich historical tradition, and a relaxed setting where urban folks can de-stress away from their usual hustle and bustle.

We manage the property ourselves, and take our guests' needs and comforts to heart.

Why they chose this property

Walkability to the friendly downtown and five parks which can be enjoyed by all ages.

What makes this property unique

Beyond its recent renovation, fenced dog-friendly back yard, and cozy interior spaces, it is next door to Ruby's Foxcroft Cottage, enabling friend and family reunions or other, larger gatherings by renting both properties.
