Nice location; close enough to town yet far enough away to be quiet. Felt very comfortable and very at-home at Benson Cottage - a great place to unwind and enjoy what Nature and the Moosehead Lake region have to offer. Our host, Tara, was friendly, easy to communicate with and kept the cottage well-stocked and clean. We wanted for nothing. I sure hope we can come back before too long!
We thoroughly enjoyed this property. Very clean, great view and loved that there was an access to the water.
Perfect location!
Definitely recommend this property.
Wow! A wonderful place with all the immenities. Great location to go off roading and the lake is beautiful. Our dog loved it . Beds were very comfortable and nice to have satellite TV that got a ton of channels. We will go back as we loved it.
As previous years, we really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. This property is well maintained and has everything you need for a simple stay. Still no WiFi and weak cell service which I like, but the family complains they have to actually talk to each other. Still a slight smell of moisture in the second bedroom but manageable since the whole area tends to be wet considering the surroundings. Tara is responsive and attentive when needed.
Ccould not stay because of injury...refused to refund deposit. Would never recomend this place. Would not even give credit for future stay. Also woundering if i should stop using vrbo.
This was our second stay at this cabin and once again it was perfect. Everything is exactly as listed. It’s clean, cozy, and located just a short distance from the public access to the lake. Even my teenagers love it and they are hard to impress. We will definitely be back again.
Nice area to just rest and relax after several stressful months of work. The cottage has everything you need and is close to plenty of hiking, fishing, kayaking and swimming.
Special shout out to Northwoods Outfitters for their assist with new kayak racks after mine broke on the trip up.
Great cabin with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We came after a snow storm and the walkway and parking lot was cleared. A short walk to the beach provided the best view of the eclipse.
The Benson Cottage is a great place to kick back and enjoy some quiet time. It's close enough to town if you want to check out the shops and get some dinner, but far enough away to still enjoy the Northwoods of Maine.
I will definitely be back
This property was perfect! Well kept and managed! My family enjoyed being at the cottage as much as visiting the town. Definitely booking again next Summer!
We enjoyed staying at this cabin in the woods. It was close to downtown Greenville and close the public beach. Cabin was comfortable with nice dishes in the kitchen. Comfortable beds and sheets.
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. Beds were comfy, very well stocked with every day needs, so if you forget something, it's probably at the cottage.
House was clean and welcoming because Tara did such a nice job. But it does need to be updated, considering the wear and tear it has withstood, and the landscape better taken care of, then it would be well worth the cost.
Was another good stay for our second year at this cabin. I’ve been coming up to Hartford’s Point on Moosehead Lake since I was a kid with my family and still have family who owns another cabin on the lake. It’s my absolute favorite place to vacation.
This cabin is great for me, the wife, kids and both dogs. While I love not having Wi-Fi, and minimal cell service, others may not, so be aware. There is a landline for emergencies.
Unfortunately, there is an order of mildew in bedroom on right. Property manager already knows about, but worth a mention since it was a concern about the kids sleeping in there with door closed. Plan is to book for next year again, but wife is concerned about this so hopefully they can figure something out. PM says it was a wet beginning to summer and they are thinking about changing out carpet to another type of flooring to solve the issue. Other than that, this cabin is perfect. Fire pit with dog leash attached to a wire for a small dog run, full kitchen with appliances, gas grill, and more. Beds are clean and comfortable. Washer and dryer are great to have, especially with wet towels from the lake. Plenty of parking on a circular driveway.
Tara, the property manager is terrific, responsive and appreciative of our business. Been working with her for two years now and always nice and easy to work with.
If you’re staying in the area, this is your spot, but not when I’m there next year again!! 😁
Nice location. Very relaxing nice just to bring food everything else is there.
We liked that it was close to Greenville and just a little further to the Rockwood ferry to golf. We love to explore great place for that and to throw a line in to fish. Recommend bringing a canoe we could have rented but ran out of time staying longer next time!! You

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Communication
Unfortunate
We stayed here after a particularly rainy period and the house was very musty. The property manager warned us via a note in the kitchen, stating that the concrete slab had "sweat" and caused the horrible smell. Aside from that, we had significant issues trying to communicate with the property manager via emails. We had to drive down the road to get cell service to send a message and then wait for a response. We were not provided with a phone number to reach her so the landline in the house was useless. The instructions that were posted on the refrigerator did not include any information about how to access the TV. It was very frustrating.
The house was clean, although there were 2 out of 3 lights out in the bathroom. The carpet in the primary bedroom was damp due to the moisture in the house.
There were 3 canisters in the house to remove odors, none of which made a difference.
Overall, we were not pleased with our experience. The property manager reimbursed us for the 2 nights we did not stay but we still did not recoup the associated fees (service fee).
The cabin is absolutely perfect! Everything was spotless and cozy. Secluded but close to the lake. We could see the water from the front yard. Perfectly peaceful! Highly recommend!
This is our second time at Benson cottage and it was amazing as always. Tara is amazing and it’s the best little place for my family to make amazing memories. Always clean.
The cottage was very comfortable for me. It would be a nice cottage for two couples. Most importantly, the property manager informed of an issue with the stove before check in and it was determined on Monday morning that it needed to be replaced and was taken care of by Noon Tuesday. With the gas grill I was fine waiting until then. The communication and service by the manager and property owner were exceptional! I'll be back.
And by the way, the fishing was great as well!!
Loved this place! Perfect for us and our dog. Lake was a nice short walk and a beautiful view from the cabin. Lots of nice hiking trails around as well. Cabin was very clean and well taken care of.
