VINTAGE RETREAT was thankfully spared by the wildfires of 2016, and is even more special to us now. We were very fortunate to not have suffered the damage and loss that so many people experienced, and are STILL working to recover from. Thank you for your continued prayers, and thank you for supporting the businesses and people by your visit to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville/Great Smoky Mountains National Park area.
When you walk in the door, the first thing you will notice is the eclectic and whimsical furnishings which decorate the cabin in an “old timey” and “what in the world is this?” fashion. Can you name and identify some of the “stuff” you discover? Do you remember some of the items from days of long ago? Did your mother, grandmother or grandfather use some of the things you’ll discover here & there? But don’t worry! This cabin has all the modern conveniences and upgrades one could ever need. There are no steps going up to the porch and entry, so this is great cabin for anyone with physical challenges, or for those who dislike having to climb a flight of stairs to get to the porch & front door.
Even though you are nestled in a private, quiet cabin, you are only 5 – 8 minutes from Pigeon Forge, and only 10-12 minutes from Gatlinburg. The Arts & Crafts community is also just a short drive over the mountain via the “short cut” or “back way”. Don’t worry about having to navigate the scary, narrow roads up the steep side of a mountain. VINTAGE RETREAT is only 5 minutes from the main highway (The Spur), yet is quiet, has beautiful mountain views, and is easily accessible.
The cabin offers a main level wrap-around porch, extending around three sides, with a screened in hot tub porch in the middle. There are glider chairs, benches and rockers providing plenty of relaxing sitting space. The second floor boasts a covered deck, complete with swing and other seating. Enjoy the sunrises and moonrises from either of the covered decks, and experience the peace and serenity of Mother Nature. Listen to Big Branch in the holler below as it bubbles and trickles before flowing into King Branch. You’ll hear “peepers”, owls, whippoorwills, and various other sounds of nature. Canada geese regularly fly up the valley to the community lakes just up the road. If you’re lucky, you may see some of our woodland critters, including black bear, raccoons, rabbits, deer, squirrels and possums. (Please DO NOT feed any of the animals!)
Each king bedroom is complete with a jetted, in-room Jacuzzi spa tub, and has its own separate bathroom, complete with hand-held showers and hair dryers. The beds are super comfortable, and the linens & pillows are new, and non allergenic. The mattresses and pillows have zippered, (non-vinyl) protectors, and the mattresses have comfy, padded mattress pads. Each bedroom has its own flat-screen, DVR HD TV plus DVD player. Bedroom 1 is on the main level, bedroom 2 is upstairs.
The game loft has a full-size sleeper sofa.
The kitchen is completely furnished and has new small appliances including a KEURIG k-cup coffee maker in addition to the traditional drip coffeemaker. Bring your own favorite coffee, tea, cocoa, or specialty k-cups to suit your own moods & tastes.
The living room has a gas fireplace, large screen DVR HD TV, and DVD player. We offer the Spectrum TV Select package of cable TV, which includes movie channels, local channels, and more! Enjoy the FREE, secure, password-protected WIFI. So, if you choose to just relax at the cabin and forego all the activities, shopping, shows and things to do in town, you can watch TV until the cows come home! Or, if you must, you can do work on your laptop while enjoying the solitude of the cabin.
Upstairs is the game loft, complete with wet bar and under-counter refrigerator. There is a shuffleboard table, electronic darts, Multi-cade arcade game (remember Pac Man?), various board games, puzzles and cards. There is also a flat screen, DVR HD TV with DVD player. Stroll out to the 2nd floor covered deck and relax on the porch swing & try to name some of the strange items on display.
We provide a whole-house water filtration system, security system, land line telephone with free long distance. There is plenty of parking in our circular drive, which is at the end of a cul-de-sac with NO annoying traffic passing by. We offer both a charcoal grill and a gas grill for your outdoor cooking enjoyment. You provide your own charcoal and/or gas. There may be some gas in the tank from prior guests which you are welcome to use. If you have to purchase gas, then you can "pass it forward" to any future guests.
One of the best features of Vintage Retreat is that there are no close neighbors who can see in your windows! This is a beautiful, woodsy, serene location with great views.
We'd love for you to visit with us!
IMPORTANT DRIVING INFORMATION!!!
If you use GPS and are coming from East I-40, GPS will likely bring you in "the back way" via Glades Rd, or Powdermill Rd. Although it IS shorter, it will take you much longer, plus the roads are very narrow, winding, with blind curves, and just plain scary for anyone who isn't used to driving them.
WE RECOMMEND to stay on Hwy 321 all the way into downtown Gatlinburg, headed toward Pigeon Forge & Sevierville. You will enter Great Smoky Mountain National Park and will drive through the tunnel. After you go through the tunnel, turn right on King Branch Rd. Follow King Branch to the entrance of Sky Harbor, which will be a right turn onto Silver Poplar Ln. Take the first left onto Ski View Ln (it will be a sharp cutback to the left), and follow the road to the top of the hill. There will be a red fire hydrant on your right, with confusing road signage. Turn right at the red fire hydrant, then take the first left (there's a hand-made sign "E. Fir St"). Vintage Retreat is directly in front of you at the end of the cul-de-sac. WELCOME!
