We'll be back !
This is a spacious rental in a great location. It is an older property (as expected in this historic downtown area) but the kitchen and back deck are particularly nice. Kitchen is large and sunny- and has a dishwasher. The back deck, which is off the kitchen, is a very pleasant space and has a gas grill. The owner is very responsive. We initially had trouble getting wifi reception in the living room and the owner responded promptly. The very next morning she had a Cox service man there installing an upgraded modem, which resulted in great wifi service. We have already booked this place again for next summer.

Great little spot in Old Encinitas
Stayed here over a month while my new rental was being built. Very quiet neighborhood with walking distance to the various viewpoints, access to the beach at D st. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping is a huge plus! Everything at the house was in excellent condition and did not have any issues. Having a dishwasher and access to laundry a huge plus. Landlord was very friendly, communicative and flexible. I would definitely stay here and recommend to anyone that's visiting beautiful Encinitas!

Perfect vacation
We have stayed two months twice In a perfect cottage. Safe environment with access to everything. Walking distance to beach, dinning shopping. The kitchen is stocked to prepare meals with a patio to dine on. The owner is a text away with answers to any questions. We plan to return again.

Cozy and in a perfect location
The best thing about Nameste Retreat is the location, you can walk both to the main downtown of Encinitas including great restaurants and SRF for meditation, services and gardens. One block from Ocean enables you to watch the sunset every night. The outdoor patio is wonderful, plus you can walk around Roberta's meditation garden. Some of the furniture, like kitchen chairs could be updated for those with posture issues, but it was cozy enough for us. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms is nice.

Close to Ocean, Shops and Restaurants
The first thing we noticed was how clean the home was kept. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The location is fantastic; within walking distance to the ocean, shops and restaurants. The hospitality was very warm and friendly. We would highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a relaxed local Downtown Encinitas experience.

Best Christmas Ever!
My husband and I flew in from IL to visit my son and his wife who live in an apartment in Encinitas. My daughter and her husband joined us at this perfect cottage for us! We spent a wonderful Christmas there with my entire family. My son and daughter in law cooked us dinner in Roberta's perfect open bright kitchen and dining area. The beds were to die for! All our comfort needs available. We biked, got some surfing in and took in local sites. The only down side is we did not need anything and only got to speak to Roberta once and I missed the opportunity in person to tell her what a find this was for us. Faithful IA (Roberta's dog) was always available for a warm welcome while we were able to pick lemon/limes in Roberta's yard fresh off the tree! Perfect spot for walking a short distance to see awesome sunsets. Highly recommend renting and the owner is very available prior when setting up days, etc. Thank you!

Fantastic getaway!
What an incredible week. The cottage is beautifully maintained, and the kitchen in particular was more than I expected, a state-of-the-art gas range and cabinets fully equipped with pots and pans, and even a wok--I cooked every meal. Loved the comfortable bed and the beautiful stained-glass window which floods the kitchen with light every afternoon. I didn't have a car and I never missed it: the train station is an easy walk away and a comfortable ride to all that San Diego has to offer. Grocery stores, great restaurants and bars, bike/surf rentals, and most importantly, the beach, are all within half a mile--the overlook to watch the sunset while the surfers do their thing is just 5-minute walk. Beach was always quiet and peaceful, as was the neighborhood itself. Roberta herself is a very gracious hostess, and IA, her sweet dog, is a great ambassador, too--whenever I was on the deck he would always come up to the fence to see how I was doing. This was the perfect retreat. I only hope I can come back next year.

Loved It!
This was perfect! It was more than we hoped for! We brought the kids to do all the major attractions and it was perfectly situated not too far from downtown or the zoo safari park. A great neighborhood so we could let the teenagers roam on their own, good proximity to the beach and the seaside shopping and dining strip. The cottage is adorable and very comfortable with a great kitchen and beautiful grounds.

Great place in great location
I've stayed twice in this residency for about a month with my husband, coming from France for vacation. For the price we loved the place. The house is spacious, clean with all the facilities. The flowered patio gives a very nice private access to outside. It is most of the time sunny as it has a great exposure ! The location is perfect, it is walkable distance from everything in Encinitas : beach, restaurants, groceries, and I loved specially the organic "whole food" supermarket. You won't need a car for anything. The owner is a friendly lady who will make your stay comfortable and easy, so you will for sure enjoy your trip.

About the host

My husband and I raised our three children here. We all loved the beaches, beach life and the deep soul of Encinitas. I am now a widow, Grandma, mom and retired midwife. I adore sitting quietly at the ocean edge. Of course the children are on their own now and when my husband passed away I decided to make this sweet cottage and the Encinitas lifestyle available to others.

Why they chose this property

The house was love at first sight for my husband and me. The minute we saw it we didn't even speak... just looked at each other and nodded simultaneously. This was our dream house. A little farm cottage in the heart of Old Encinitas.

What makes this property unique

The Old Downtown Encinitas area has aged beautifully. The rough edges have smoothed but the essence of the old beach town remains. Only a few beach towns in Southern California have managed to escape the downside of development while also improving the neighborhood. Encinitas is lucky to be counted as one of them. There is a strong vibe for health and wellness. The businesses reflect individual character, unique wares and many alternative healthcare modalities. The art community is active and local artists abound.
