About this property

15 Minutes from Waterton Lakes National Park! Gorgeous views and yard, sleeps 19

Prepare to be wowed! We are told over and over by guests that the pictures don't do this beautiful home justice. This multi-level home has sweeping beamed ceilings, amazing and unique architecture and a yard to suit any occasion. The large kitchen and dining room with adjacent deck is the center of this home and where so many memories are made. All cabinets and drawers are labeled and well equipped. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and popcorn are provided as well as basic cooking ingredients (oil, salt, spices etc.).The kitchen deck has a propane BBQ and peaceful and beautiful views of the neighbouring properties and mountains.

The living room features gorgeous photography from a local Alberta wildlife photographer. The floor to ceiling windows give a wonderful vista of the backyard and mountain scenery. The wood burning fireplace provides warmth and ambience during the winter.

With 6 bedrooms there is room enough for 19 people. PLEASE NOTE: WE ONLY ALLOW 19 PEOPLE MAX ( 16 adults and 3 children) IF YOU SHOW UP WITH MORE THAN 19 PEOPLE, YOUR RESERVATION WILL BE IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED WITHOUT REFUND. Each of the rooms is named after a prominent peak or waterfall in the area.

The much coveted Chief Mountain Master Suite has a private balcony with views of iconic Chief Mountain to the south. The headboard and wall above the bed recreates a beautiful starry night backdropping a mountain silhouette. The ensuite has a walk in closet with glass french doors, a BodySpa jetted shower, two-person soaker tub and his and her sinks.

The main floor Vimy peak room features a loft with three children's beds and a fun mountain mural. A queen bed for the parents is on the main floor just beneath the loft. The bathroom/laundry room is directly across the hall.

Mt. Blakiston Room found on the main floor has two queen beds and ample closet space.

Mt. Galway Room is found on the lower level just off the library. It has one queen bed and ample closet space. This room also has two windows with views of the beautiful back yard. The lower level full bath is right next to it.

On the other side of the lower level bath is the Mt. Crandall room. This room has two queen beds, and a regular and walk in closet.

Finally, the Cameron Falls room is found just off the rec room, also on the lower level. It has one queen bed.

On the lower level we have the library. There are a number of interesting books, a unique and beautiful sunken fireplace, toys for the children and access to the Going to the Sun Room.

The Going to the Sun room is an unheated room featuring several tall windows. During the winter, on a sunny day (we get a lot of them here in Southern Alberta) it can get up to 15 degrees Celsius in the Sun room which provides a lovely oasis and break from the cold. During the summer, this room leads to a patio with two picnic tables and the spacious back yard.

The back yard features a lovely little creek and small pond which the birds love to splash in. Our younger guests can often be found splashing in the creek and building dams. (The water is quite shallow but adult supervision is always recommended.) There is also a fire pit with ample seating for those who enjoy a fire. The yard is quite large. We've had guests play soccer, fly kites or enjoy a number of the outdoor games we have stashed under the deck and in the Sun room.

The lower level of the house also features our rec/gaming/exercise room. We have a large sectional couch, a number of movies and a smart TV for streaming whichever service you use. There are a number of games for children and adults as well as puzzles. There is also a ping-pong table and karaoke machine. The exercise room has a treadmill, stair-climber and stationary bike, workout videos, a TV, as well as yoga matts and implements.

Our cleaning procedures are next to none. EVERY piece of bedding is changed between guests, right down to the mattress and pillow protectors. All bedding and towels are provided as well as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand soap.

With almost 6000 sq ft, this home allows large family groups to enjoy time together without feeling like you're on top of each other. We often have guests with children say how nice it is to have enough room for everyone and for the children to have their own spaces to play and enjoy time together.

The Guest House is located right next door to the Barn Store. This place is like a convenience store on steroids! There is fuel, food (including fresh produce and a large selection of dairy and meat), a large gift and clothing shop and the ice cream is amazing. Many guests have expressed appreciation for the convenience of being so close to a store that has so much to offer. As for Mountain View, it is a tiny hamlet with amazing mountain views! Evening strolls to watch the sunset are always called for, summer or winter!

The Waterton area has something for everyone. Clear quiet nights are wonderful for star gazing from the back yard or for taking in a late night tour with the Dark Sky guides in Waterton park. In the summer there is hiking, shopping, dining, boat tours and nature talks. In the winter the park is pretty much empty but there are several cross-country skiing and snow shoeing opportunities. There are a few restaurants open year round as well as picnic shelters with wood burning stoves for the adventurous. All year round, the scenic viewscapes are comparable to Banff and Glacier National Parks but without the crowds and parking issues. Wildlife can always be seen and appreciated. Our guests often report seeing deer, foxes, elk, wolves and bear. For those who wish to explore outside of the park, there are numerous lakes and trails to explore. We can always refer you to various outdoor adventure companies or give you ideas of where to explore on your own.

Great place
Our hiking group spent a wonderful 3 days here. The huge house and property were immaculate, with lots of comfortable rooms and a large kitchen with everything we needed. The hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We're definitely interested in returning.
