About this property

Hand-Hewn Log Cabin on 21 Secluded Acres. 1 Mile from Wind Cave NP

Relax and reinvigorate on 21 secluded acres outside of Custer, SD. Beaver Creek Lodge has oversized hand-hewn logs, vaulted ceilings, and artistic finishes truly make this cabin something to behold. Immerse yourself in nature when you enjoy South Dakota mornings and sunsets on the wraparound deck or any of the three private balconies. It’s set on 21 private, wooded acres on a scenic hillside, above Beaver Creek, which meanders through a lush meadow below. Explore the creek itself and see the wildlife it attracts year-round including deer, cows, chipmunks, birds, wild turkeys, the occasional elk, and, of course, beavers! Be sure to visit Wind Cave Park, just 1 mile down the road, and Custer State Park, 6 miles away, to witness wild herds of buffalo and elk which migrate through the area. You’re also 1.5 miles east of HWY 87, better known as the beautiful Needles Highway.

The interior of this charming cabin is handcrafted with rustic log walls and warm pine accents. Cozy up in front of the stone fireplace, built by the owner herself, and enjoy all of the modern conveniences to make for a rejuvenating stay. The main level is equipped with a full kitchen and any appliances you’ll need, coffee for the morning or a grill for the evening. Enjoy coffee at the breakfast bar or sit down for a meal at the formal dining table. The living room is encased with giant, view windows and patio doors to access the deck. The Master Bedroom with a walk-in closet, private bath, and secluded private deck is also on the main level, as well as an accessible half-bath.

On the second floor, you’ll find a loft area overlook, two bedrooms, and a full bath. Each bedroom has patio doors to its own cozy, private balcony.

The walk-out basement boasts a large family room with a wet bar, pool table, and patio doors to a covered patio. There’s an additional bedroom downstairs with a full bath, for privacy and additional relaxing space.

Arrive as you are and leave feeling as peaceful. We think you’ll like it here.

Beautiful Property and Cabin

This place exceeded our needs with a beautiful private property and wonderfully set up cabin. Plenty of room for the 3 of us and located close to the things we wanted to do (Custer State Park, Rapid City, Spearfish). Basic amenities provided, super clean and well decorated. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful log home tucked into the hills

This house was perfect in every way for our group. Lots of hiking and trail running, star gazing and silence. We loved our visit and appreciated how responsive the caretakers were. 10/10!

Wonderful location!

Our family has a wonderful and relaxing time at the cabin. Our kids all enjoyed the pool table. We especially loved having coffee off the deck in the mornings. It is so peaceful, all you can hear is the sounds of the forest. The house was nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed hiking in Wind Cave National Park and saw lots of bison.

A great secluded spot for a Family Trip

We stayed at the Cabin in Late April and really enjoyed the area. The cabin was super clean and a perfect size for our family. The host was excellent and provided all the essentials we needed as well as good communication. On the southern end of the major black hills attractions, it is just about 1 mile from the cabin to enter the wildlife rich wind cave national park area and then just a short drive from there to Custer state park. Plenty of wildlife right on the property too. We had wild turkeys on the porch one morning. Would definitely stay here again.

Nine years later

We stayed here 9 years ago when our kids were still at home. We have planned an annual trip now with friends and decided to stay here. It was just like we remembered it 9 years ago. Great location, easy to find, close to most attractions. Cabin is set up perfect for our 3 couples.

Beautiful!

What an incredible stay we had in this cabin. Jody was very pleasant and gracious. She has made this an incredible cabin to stay in and has put all you could ever need inside for your convenience. Beautiful location! We were fortunate enough to see the herd of elk in the valley plus lots of other wildlife! Our children loved every minute!

Great Stay!

This is a great property—super location to most Black Hills outdoor fun. A log house to envy. The negatives are nit-picky—driveway is steep but if you know what you are doing, no problem. Kitchen is a little small for big family dinner efforts, but we made it work. We will come back. Oh yeah, ethernet cable right next to commode in master bedroom for folks who need that sort of multi-tasking!

Our trip

Property was nice, driveway could definitely use some work, not sure a small car could have used it successfully. Had water trouble with leaking following a storm with lots of wind. Owner was contacted.

Outstanding

Took a hunting trip and stayed in this cabin. Very clean and a lot of space. Everything we needed was there. Had 8 guys and we all had our own bed or pull out futon to sleep on. If available we are going to stay at this cabin every year on our trip. Very private and lots of wildlife to see. Would highly recommend this property to anybody staying in the Black Hills. Brett

Exactly what I was looking for.

Looking for a remote cabin in the woods and found it, It's remote but everything you want to do is within an hour of its location. Very close to Custer state park. Very nice management. Clean and comfortable. Has all the kitchen ware you need. Responded quickly to questions. Beautiful view, makes you want to get up early, sit on the deck with your coffee and watch the sun rise. Worth the the price. Quite, peaceful and beautiful.

Fall Fun in Custer

We arrived late on a Friday night and the house greeted us with a warm glow. The house was a real hit with my German parents. The kids and my husband loved the basement. The house is warm and spacious and the kitchen has all you need and more. A cozy retreat in beautiful Black Hills that offers stunning views of the milky way on a cloudless night. Sightseeing is a must and the house sits close to almost all the attractions. We recommend it!

Unpleasant

Beautiful setting…lovely log cabin. However, dirty, old, stained mattresses, sheets, comforters and pillows. We found live bedbugs, and had folks bitten in their sleep, and it ruined our family vacation, to say nothing of the worry of bringing something home with us. And to top that off, there were mouse droppings, and 2 live mice running around! I expect a premium place when paying these prices. Our worst experience yet.

Peaceful!

Jody's place was very comfortable and the location was very convenient to all of area attractions. The area is just amazing! We went to Mt. Rushmore twice, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Custer State Park including Sylvan Lake, the Badlands, ATV riding and could easily take advantage of what the area had to offer. Custer itself is a great town. Loved playing pool at night with the kids (my two adult children) and having plenty of space to just relax. Jody even offered us another property location that was unoccupied to watch the fireworks on the 4th which was so nice. The driveway is really not a big deal at all (at least in the summer). Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Thanks for sharing your home.

Custer rental

Sleeps comfortably 10 people. Several bad or broken beds. Short on kitchen gadgets. Pictures show short grasses not three feet high with weeds around porch. Toilet in master bath needed some maintenance inside tank kept coming apart . Would be nice to have suitcase stands or shelves in closets.

Beautiful Cabin

This home was so comfortable and had everything we desired. Our only issue was dealing with trash as the dumpster at the bottom of the hill was full and per house instructions garbage was scheduled for removal Thursday morning, we arrived Thursday afternoon so we are unsure what happened. Possibly someone else filled the dumpster after garbage was removed and unfortunately we had our vehicle completely full with family that we were not able to take the extra garbage with us for proper disposal so it was left for the housekeeping crew, which we are very sorry about. However other than that, it was a wonderful stay and we will definitely plan to come again. Thank you.

We actually met on a school trip to Washington, DC, so traveling has always been close to our hearts! In our free time, we love hiking, kayaking, basically anything outdoors, and traveling to new places. Come visit us and we’ll show you some of our favorite Black Hills destinations!
