Summary:
Experience the ultimate West Australian escape down South at Djindarup Retreat 1! Located in the heart of the Margaret River wine region, only five minutes from pristine surf beaches and equal distance to the town centre with its award winning cafes and restaurants.
Enjoy direct access to the coast and town via the cycle path or take a stroll on nearby trails to visit two famous wineries, Cape Mentelle, and Xanadu.
The Space:
Djindarup Retreat 1 is located in the Margaret River tourist region, known for its craft breweries, local artists, boutique shops, and world-renowned wineries. Not to mention the stunning beaches and thrilling surf breaks, coupled with the rare opportunity to witness the majestic migrating whales that travel through from June to November. Other natural wonders include the breathtaking limestone caves, mountain bike trails through the native forests, cape to cape coastal track.
Enjoy a short 40-minute drive from the closest airport at Busselton, situated on the southwest tip of Western Australia or 3 hour drive from the City of Perth.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with stunning lake views, private fire pits (seasonal), and outdoor dining tables with personal barbeques. Complete with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities including a flush toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).
If you plan to spend your farm stay WA escapes here, we advise that you bring your basic necessities, such as food during your stay with us. Thank you.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We have a total of 4 units of Tiny Houses on our property. Approximately 20 m between tiny houses. Tiny 1 and Tiny 3 are the first preferences for guests.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings, including the lake with canoes provided and a walk track around the lake. Laundry facilities and reading room are also available.
Guests also have exclusive access to individual gas barbeques, fire pits (winter months), or have a picnic in the tranquil lake setting. Possums, kangaroos, and plentiful bird life can be spotted on the site.
- Canoes are provided free for guests
- Bikes are $15 per day for the two bikes / $10 for only a morning or afternoon. By prior request from your host
- Firewood is $20 per bag from your host, or you can purchase them at Better Choice petrol station. In addition, guests are not allowed to collect firewood from other woodlands or surrounding areas due to the risk of bringing dieback disease onto the property.
- Tap water is potable, bottled water can be purchased from your host or in town.
Guests are not permitted to enter their land hosts' private residence or garden. Please respect your host's privacy and other neighbouring properties in the area.

- Gnarabup Beach is ideal for a morning swim and has an excellent café overlooking the sea, The White Elephant Café.
- Cape Mentelle hosts an outdoor cinema during the summer months
- Evening fish and chips (Hooked Up Takeaway) while watching surfers at Prevelly's Main Break (Surfers Point)
- Relax for an Australian pub dinner at The Common, The Margaret River Hotel or The Tavernpossum
- Leeuwin Estate is recommended for lunch and is one of Western Australia's finest restaurants with the head chef awarded 2023 regional chef of the year.
- Walsh and Co up the road sell a selection of delicatessen foods along with their wines (5962 Caves road).
- Blue Ginger Fine Foods & Cafe has high-quality meats, cheeses, whole foods, organics, and hard-to-find ingredients (7/31 Station Rd, Margaret River).

- Visiting local pottery maker Wilyabrup Dreaming, then walking down the trail to the Wilyabrup cliffs (ask Sarah for info on how to access the trail)
Getting Around:
By car:
Djindarup Retreat is five minutes drive from Margaret River town by driving West along Walcliffe Road then turn Southwards at the Intersection with Caves Road. The first left turn heading South on Caves Road will be Roxburgh Road. Immendiately after turning into Roxburgh Road take the left into Djindarup Retreat (number 410) and follow the signs to your Tiny House. The driveway is suitable for 2WD standard cars.
Please note that: Car licence plate number & town of residence for all guest vehicles must be text to host prior to check in.
By public transport:
If travelling from oversees or interstate it is recommended to hire a car when visiting the Margaret River region (try No Birds car hire for competitive rates). However, SouthWest Coachlines do provide coach transport from Perth airport to Margaret River and taxi's can take you from the town to Djindarup Retreat
Other Things to Note:
- Vodafone, 2degrees, and Spark have no signal
- Optus has good signal, while Telstra has a weak signal.
- WiFi available
- Pets are not allowed
- Potable water is available
- The gas barbeques can be used all year
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- No smoking allowed inside or on the premises apart from designated area.
- Guests are welcome to explore the surrounding area and walk around the lake
- Laundry facilities, board games and books available from reading room.
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- We would like to advise guests that later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Keep in mind that during total fire bans the outdoor fire pits are not available and also during prohibited burning periods
