Solid Stay & Fairly Priced
It's great to have a quiet place in the country on lots of land -- even if most was in soybeans. Our child enjoyed the frogs around the pond, tire swing, and chasing fireflies (until the last day when a sign in the lawn said it was treated with something so stay off, and then we also saw less fireflies afterward, ugh, stop spraying!). Another reviewer mentioned a few issues we'd like to piggyback on: nails on main bedroom's bathroom and closet thresholds not pounded in all the way, the lack of curtains in the bright, east-facing front room, etc). The knob from the microwave was missing, so that took a bit to figure out. The first / main level is tastefully updated, and I'm sure the vinyl plank floors make cleaning easier. Do wish the main suite had AT LEAST a TV on the wall -- if not also two chairs and a table to make a little sitting area (or a sofa even would be nice to create another get away spot -- and actually a king bed would have been nice). The large sunroom was fantastic and highly lounged in by us, but could also use another sofa or chairs and maybe a larger TV. The basement was really moldy smelling, which surprised us on a house roughly only 20 years old, and the pool table is not full size while the cues are missing tips; so yeah, we didn't really use the basement like we'd hoped based on pics. Still, it was a comfortable home that was everything we needed and then some. It was clean for us when we arrived, no issues there, although most of the windows were unlocked so do check them as you always should on a rental. The front room's window looks like someone had chipped away at the wood sash and one of the locks on one window did not work. There were lots of odd things outside -- like an old container of animal food in a tree, paint rollers thrown behind a shrub, nice chairs stacked in an outdoor barn, an old kayak filled with water and growing plants that frogs were living in (kinda cool actually), and various figurines from previous owners in various states of disrepair (including what looked to have been a waterfall and fountain in the pond). Those are just observations, charming in a way, and did not detract from the stay. But overall, there are still some little TLC things to do on what looks like a home that was a bit rushed to be ready for renters, including painter's tape in the laundry room all around the ceiling. Would stay again for sure! We rent homes a lot all over.
