Beautiful view, pretty landscape, lots of sunshine
The location, view, yard and patch of private beach are magical. The view is better than what the photos show. There are three decks facing the water. Catches max sun and warm. The yard/hillside landscaping is filled with a large variety of plants, small pathways, and hand-crafted stonework. I imagine there is something flowering most months of the year. Good for dogs and kids, though not safe for toddlers. Older kids and dogs would find it paradise -- safe to let them run wild. You can tell it is a much-loved, well-used home created and kept by a large, active, creative, earthy family. It is not primarily a vacation rental. It seems odd that it is vacation rental as it looks, feels, smells so "lived in." The house has been built in pieces over many decades. It is a bit like a tree house or multi-story cabin. It is unique, eclectic, mismatched, discontiguous. Some rooms and furnishings are newer, nicer; others are more rustic, well worn or worn out. The kitchen is sleek, modern and well stocked. The bedding in the main (only) bedroom was very old, pillows smelly. The mattress was terrible. All other "beds" are pull out couches. For the price we paid, the interior was disappointing...felt like a rip off given the overall quality and cleanliness was mixed. Seemed at least 30% overpriced compared to others we've rented on the islands. It would be great rental for a group of guys on a fishing weekend or a family with lots of elementary-age kids.
