About this property

The Vines - Wyuna. Luxury Church Retreat near Echuca

Welcome to The Vines, a beautifully converted 1913 church and unique couples retreat.
Retaining its original features but with all the modern amenities and luxurious fitting to ensure your stay is comfortable and relaxing. The heritage listed church offers the perfect escape for those looking for something different.

Only 2.5 hours drive north of Melbourne The Vines is tucked away in a picturesque rural setting with expansive views over green pastures in Yorta Yorta Country.

The space
The Vines offers fully self-contained luxury. It’s a unique experience. Enter the church with the bespoke hand forged key and relax.

Beyond the entrance hall the space opens up into a expansive, light filled open plan living, dining and kitchen with original stained glass and high timber ceilings. A double-sided wood burner at its centre creating an atmosphere encouraging you to slowdown, rejuvenate and reconnect.

Curl up on the comfortable lounges with a drink and a book or board game. Take in the evening views from the north facing paved terrace accessed through the stunning oversized pivot door. Cook up a storm in the modern, well-equipped kitchen and spend a leisurely evening conversing around the large table on the luxe velvet banquette seating.

The bedroom and bathroom are secluded in what was the old vestry and Sunday school. Wake up refreshed in the comfy queen bed to the sound of birdsong and views through the french doors over the garden and beyond. The large bathroom has a repurposed vanity, luxurious underfloor heating and an oversized shower. Take time to relax and unwind in the deep bathtub after a day of exploration around the local area.

Outside, the ample terrace drops down to a protected firepit made to enjoy a BBQ and stargazing on those warmer evenings. Alternatively unwind and watch the local birdlife from the alfresco dining area, outdoor lounge or the café table.

Relaxing weekend
We had a wonderful weekend at the Vines - Wyuna. Communication with the owner was excellent. The place is so close to Echuca and the wineries, where we spent the afternoon on a paddle steamer drifting on the Murray River, and came back to the accommodation where there's a warm fire and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely will be back!

The perfect retreat
Marie is such a wonderful host. Constant communication - always there if needed. The old church has been superbly renovated. The open fire was glorious. Plenty of seating inside and out. A calming and peaceful holiday.

Perfect retreat
Super cute old building that has been beautifully renovated. The perfect place for some quiet relaxation. Not sure what we loved more - the cosy wood fire or the bathtub overlooking a paddock. Kitchen is well equipped, highly recommend cooking something delicious and just enjoying the beautiful space. We were here during some cold, wet weather and thoroughly enjoyed just snuggling up around the fire. Good heating so even in winter it was cosy.

Relaxing and cosy stay
We had such a wonderful little stay at The Vines. It was such a cosy set up. Kitchen had everything you need, the fire was amazing and the bath meant we had a very relaxing stay. There's not much around the area but it's only a 20 minute drive into Echuca/Moama. However, we loved unwinding at the property in the evening so we didn't feel the need to head out. Marie was great with their communication.

Lovely short stay
Marie was very easy to deal with. Property was clean and keeped to era appropriate. The kitchen and bathroom were stocked as good if not better than your own home. The area was lovely and quite yet an easy drive to many towns. We took our great dane and he loved it. The only issue was the extreme weather which is the hands of mother nature. Will book this Property again next time we are that way. Will recommend to very one i can. Loved it

About the host

I live in Sydney's south with my husband, daughter and rescue greyhound. We originate from the UK and have a passion for old buildings and interior design. We spent 2 years restoring and converting The Vines into a modern home whilst retaining the church's original features. We enjoy sharing the church with others in the next phase of its life.

Why they chose this property

Wyuna is a small quiet and friendly rural township. The Vines has tranquil pastural views, but is within a short drive of the beautiful Murray River town of Echuca and local business hubs of Kyabram and Shepparton. The area offers a wealth of activities, from cafes and pubs to wineries and distilleries. There are great shops, art galleries and shopping. If you want to get into the outdoors there are the iconic paddle steamers, great pike tracks, kayaking, horse riding, bird watching, National Parks, golf courses and more. Relax and reconnect at the church or head out and explore!

What makes this property unique

The Vines is a unique luxury stay, housed in what was the original Methodist and later Uniting church. Whilst the character and features of the original 1913 building have been retained, the church has all of the modern conveniences and is extremely well equipped to ensure a relaxing break. It is a place where unique memories can be made.
