Birthday Blast
This cabin was a perfect retreat for my adult sons and us for my 50th birthday. Brian was wonderful to communicate with and the house was warm and ready on time. The drive there around the lake is beautiful and the partially gravel paved road was in great shape, with no potholes. It is a 20-minute drive to the small town of Lowell so be sure to take everything you need with you. We are looking forward to taking a summer trip up there and exploring all around. Thanks for sharing your home with us Brian.

Comfortable and cozy
We had a delightful time here. It fit all seven of us adults and kids comfortably. The owners, Brian and Beth, greeted us at the property and gave us a run-through on the amenities (like the hot tub, pellet stove, musicians' room and more). When my SIL realized she had no thyme for a dish, I sent a text to the owners inquiring and they graciously shared some from their home. And the stars at night! A wonderful time thanks to wonderful hosts.

Fall Creek House
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. We celebrated my mother's 90th birthday, and needed a home that was close to my family and lowell. This was perfect. My family was very curious about the rental home in their backyard and came to visit. Our host was wonderful. He stopped by to see how we were getting along and had a pleasant conversation. Definitely plan to send referrals.

A must see
What an amazing property, clean, huge, very considate owners (who messaged me anytime they needed to do anything on the property before coming), it's secluded close to a swimming hole I used to go to when I was younger and lived in the area. Close enough to everything we needed to have a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommend to anyone, with kids, no kids, girls weekend, perfect for pretty much anyone who loves nature, but wants the comforts of home as well. Thank you again.

Worth the Trip
This property is a bit out of the day, but worth the trip for sure. All the facilities worked as advertised, the place was clean, our host was friendly and engaged in the process. We enjoyed a family weekend in a rustic setting with enough modern amenities to make it comfortable. Next time out, we will try to explore the music room. Always good to have something to come back for.

Fun getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The check in process was easy and the host was there to say hello. We loved the hot tub even though it was a bit of a cold walk once we got out! The house has a few really nice decks that look out over the property. It was definitely relaxing!

beautiful house and property, very quite and relaxing, tons of space inside and out, there were 6 of us and we all got to pick a bed that fit us, we got lucky in February the weather was nice with clear sky's and a beautiful view of the stars, i could see the stars from my bed on the main floor in Elsie's suite (: loved it, fell asleep counting stars, of course after a nice soak in the hot tub.

Fun Sibling Getaway
Raven's Rest was overall a relaxing and fun trip away from the city. There were 4 adults (2 couples) & 1 dog, and we stayed for 2 days. We had a great time using the hot tub, the covered deck was the perfect spot to enjoy the view of the trees/stars and still be outside while protected from the rain, and the kitchen/ living room layout was nice and open for visiting and meals. Downstairs is heated with a pellet stove to get you nice and toasty. We didn't use the downstairs very much, but I can see it being useful for larger parties/parties with children. It's a gorgeous property and only wished Oregon wasn't so rainy sometimes so we could've enjoyed some more things like the picnic table and grill, fire pit, and huge lawn. We also got some pretty great burgers and a few drinks to-go about 7 miles down the road at Fall Creek Market & Pizza, which I recommend if you are looking for something casual and close. Brian is extremely responsive and is very accommodating during your stay for anything you might need. He was especially kind to let us use the music room on short notice and that was really appreciated (we are not professionals by any means, but wanted to pass some time on the rainy day). My only major complaints were the upstairs bed being very uncomfortable (extremely bowed in the middle... definitely time to replace; we ended up sleeping on the futon mattress laid onto the floor, which worked okay for us, but isn't ideal for someone expecting a usable queen bed) and the bathrooms seemed a little in need of some attention (deep clean, some fixtures need repair/replacement like the toilet seat upstairs). Thank you again for hosting! We had a great visit.

About the host

Hosted by Brian and Elizabeth Rands

Host profile image
Elizabeth, Caleb and I have lived here in Fall Creek for twenty years. Our home has grown while our family did. Now with our daughters grown and on their own, it is just us three, my son Caleb , my wife Elizabeth and myself, Brian. I am a professional technician, business owner and we bought this lodge to earn extra income for retirement. We are music lovers, dancers, and nature loving people who are good stewards of our land. We have been active in our community, school, and our local farmers market. We are continually improving our home and our rental home in hope that we can offer a unique and satisfying experience to our guests so that our business will sustain us into our later years. I have a Bachelors Degree in business, and Elizabeth holds a Bachelors Degree in history, so we value education and use our skills with our business. Caleb is still in High School and hopes to become a writer.

Why they chose this property

In the Summer of 2015 the property and the five acre lot next to ours went up for sale. At first we were not interested in buying it, but after thinking about it and doing the math, it became clear that we could earn some sweat equity, help keep our property values high, and restore the land to the natural beauty that we love if we bought it ourselves. We purchased it in October 2015, did an extensive renovation over the next 6 months and opened it as a vacation rental in May 2016. We added a Totem, carved wood sculptures, and an old growth slab bar top, all made from wood that came down as a windfall. We have a Native Northwest theme and original native american artwork. Since them we have continued the renovation with the large 950 square foot building above the two car garage, added a three person hot tub, and we have plans for additional landscaping, a cedar sweat lodge, and a bird watching trail with birdhouses designed to attract specific species. We enjoy having the extra space or the peace and quiet when we want it, but also we enjoy meeting new people with different cultures. We are located close enough to attend to any of our guests needs, but out of view from the lodge, so our guests still have plenty of room and privacy.

What makes this property unique

The best think about our lodge is the location. We live in one of the most popular camping areas in Oregon. We have a seasonal lake, a beautiful creek, a National Forest, and the lodge acreage itself sustains wildlife and natural scenic beauty. At night, you can really see the stars. Every Spring, the same chorus of birds come back for the season, and in the Fall, the deer bed down next to the fruit trees, right behind the house. The upper balcony has a great view over the lawn area and the forested mountains. We offer fishing gear, sporting equipment, mushroom hunting tips and we do a great Cajun blackened fish fry. Our lower lodge level has a music room equipped with instruments, a vintage tube amp, bass amp, guitars, keyboards, and percussion instruments. I have many more at our house if needed for a good "full on fun" family jam session, or a just a folk song sing along around our fire-pit. The fire-pit is lined with lava rock that glow when it gets hot, and these rocks are also used during native american sweat ceremonies. We added the three person hot tub to help our guests and ourselves relax in the scenic setting.
