An idyllic country retreat for people who like to getaway and relax, but also want to share their holidays with their hound. Pepper Tree Farm is a unique offering in that complimentary fully hosted doggy daycare is available by arrangement while you're away from the farm! Explore the beautiful Adelaide Hills or Barossa Valley guilt-free and, when you're ready, come back and enjoy your welcome hamper outside under the vines or, on chilly days, relax on the couch by the fireplace :)
Pepper Tree Farm is 10 acres in total, with approx half devoted to the house and garden areas where your dog can safely explore his/her surroundings. The remainder is used by my chooks to produce farm fresh eggs, Barney (my miniature donkey) and my black-headed dorper sheep, whose job it is to keep the paddock grass down.
The property is located on a quiet rural road and, rather than traffic noise, you'll wake to the sounds of magpies warbling, while in the evening the kookaburras will often start laughing. Blue wrens flit about the garden during the day, while galahs, rosellas & sulphur crested cockatoos visit for a feed in the early mornings and late afternoons.
The house is surrounded by lawns and natural bushland, and is a relaxing place to sit back with a book or glass of wine and watch the sun set over the hills. My home has a rustic farmhouse exterior, with a contemporary interior. It's homely and welcoming, and I hope you enjoy staying 'on the farm' as much as I enjoy living here :)
To that end, you'll receive a complimentary 'welcome hamper' featuring a bottle of wine from our local cellar door - Kersbrook Hill Wines and Cider - freshly baked bread, cheese, biscuits & some sweet treats. An array of complimentary breakfast provisions (e.g., bacon, farm-fresh eggs, sausages, cereals, crumpets, muffins, yoghurt, juice, Nespresso coffee and a variety of milks) will be available in the kitchen for you to select from each morning.
You will have the entire self-contained ground floor lower level of the house and expansive private garden areas to relax in, while I and my dogs will live upstairs. We have our own private entrance into the house as well as a dedicated section of the garden. If you need any advice or have any questions during your stay though, I'll be close by & able to offer assistance :)
Guests and their dog(s) will have sole access to the ground floor of the home, which is separate from the upper living areas. This means that, inside the house, you will have sole access to the living and dining rooms, fully equipped kitchen, queen size bedroom, laundry, bathroom and toilet. Your private areas outside include four separate fully fenced garden/paddock areas encompassing approx 4 acres.
Please note that I and my dogs will be upstairs & you'll rarely see or hear me (unless you have a question or for housekeeping purposes) - or you'd like to have a chat!
My dogs however can, on occasion, sound a little like a herd of elephants when they're waiting for me to serve their meals, or are playing & chasing each other upstairs! I do my best to ensure they are as well-behaved and quiet as possible though :)
