About this property

Cosy Aotea Cottage with water views, a gentle stroll to the beach. Pet Friendly!

Relax in the comfort of a beach retreat and enjoy long walks on the beach. Watch the sun go down with a nice cold drink as you sit on the deck after a lovely day exploring the tranquility of Aotea Harbour. Your beloved pets (all dogs are welcome even large ones over 25kgs, I don’t know how to change the original setting) will be safe and can relax within the fully fenced section. There's books to read and wifi to connect to so you can upload your pictures while you create memories for the future. Enjoy the use of a full kitchen and bathroom. There's also a laundry with an extra toilet too.
The main cottage includes a double bed, open plan kitchen and dining , access to both decks while the two single beds are in a sleepout.

Aotea Village is a warm and welcoming place where you can choose to socialise or just enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. There's coffee, food and several shops a ten minute drive away in Kawhia and a gorgeous little pottery and wood gallery in Aotea Village.

The fishing here is great, bring the boat or your surfcasting rods. Alternatively just bring yourselves and swimming gear. Swim in the harbour in summer and whether it's winter or summer relax at Te Puia Springs (hot water beach) at Kawhia.

The person looking after the cottage lives within the village and is available to answer any queries you may have and looks forward to welcoming you to Aotea Village, our little piece of paradise.

My Beach Retreat
Using the Google map we found the house difficult to find as it was the second house in on a street which did not look at all similar to the map. The house was fine and well fitted out with equipment, extra bedding and other extras such as tea & coffee. The outdoor furniture needs replacing as it is very tired making it uncomfortable and requires replacing. The dinning area inside and out was fine the benches offered plenty of room to sit. The unit lacked a night stand and a small table lamp, the one provided was just a bare bulb and balanced poorly on the box provided. The laundry contained all that was required with an extra vanity and toilet which was handy but it requires a good thorough clean. We loved the setting so near the beach with lovely walks along the walkway however the view from the unit was unfortunately mostly straight into the foundations of the house next door which can't been helped due to new development.Despite these issue we enjoyed our relaxing stay and would love to use this venue again. Susan the owner was very helpful and pleasant to deal with .

OK
Probably better once the next door neighbour has finished building and stops burning rubbish all day but their new deck overlooking the bach outdoor living spoils the view and takes away privacy

Love Aotea
An incredible 4 night stay. We often stay over the hill at Kawhia and have been converted to champions of Aotea. Met Susan and Lilly and they were lovely and available if we needed anything. We didn't though as everything is catered for, it was so comfortable and welcoming. Thank you again.

The perfect place to relax.
We really enjoyed our stay. Aotea is so peaceful and pretty. The bach had everything we needed and Susan had communicated where the nearest shops were so we came prepared with groceries. We were able to just chill out.

having grown up in Hamilton, I was thrilled to move full time to Aotea Harbour. There's a tranquility and mystical beauty here. I love welcoming people to a place that feeds my soul.

Why they chose this property

When I first came for a holiday here at Aotea, I simply fell in love with the place and decided that one day I would have a holiday place here. That was a few years ago now and I'm living in the village full time and loving it. My little holiday place is now ready to welcome the next people to have adventures here.

What makes this property unique

It's a true kiwi bach with retro lino; it feels just like a beach bach used to feel.
It's a great place to relax, wind down and leave the stresses of everyday life behind. Aotea Harbour will likely weave it's magic around you too.
