Our 2nd story home is sure to delight you. Think girl's getaway, men's golf trip or family staycation! Enter our cozy enclosed staircase off of Commerce Street and head upstairs to enjoy our completely renovated, modern suite.

Our suite features high, restored tin ceilings throughout our. You'll enter into a spacious kitchen featuring NEW everything - lighting, appliances, countertops. You will love creating meals and conversing in this beautiful space. You'll have access to a Hamilton Beach Programmable 7 qt Crockpot, a Hamilton BeachParty Dipper Crockpot, Blender and hand mixer in addition to the dishes, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, etc. Step off into the living room and check out the view of bustling Commerce St. Sit and relax in front of the 42" electric fireplace and 55" Sambung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. It will be a favorite hang out spot for sure! Our bedrooms are at each end of the home affording you the most privacy. Great location!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hubs and I stayed for 3 nights for an anniversary getaway. This space was perfect for us. Location is ideal for shopping, dining, sightseeing. Walked to Grant Park and then later walked on River Trail. Beds are comfy, kitchen has all you need for cooking, but bring your own spices, oils, condiments as there are none. If you have trouble with stairs, take note there are 20 steps in a narrow,but well lit, hallway to get to unit. Reserved parking spot was close if no street parking available. Only downside to this unit is there is no outside space to chill but that is just something we prefer. Would not stop us from staying again, great spot. 😀

Girl's Trip to Galena

Awesome trip - LOVED the condo; great proximity to shopping, restaurants, bars, the trolley, Grant's home, etc. Will definitely come back. Would like to see salt & pepper at the condo - tried to get some at the spice store and it was $30!

Perfect location

We absolutely loved this place. Well appointed, clean, modern. Quiet! Yet in the center of everything. We were able to walk to nearly everything we wanted to see and do. Tons of restaurants to choose from. We booked for 2 nights. Wish we had planned for 3.

Sister birthday weekend

4 sisters took sister in law for birthday. Couldnt get away last year for her 50th so it was a 50+1 celebration. We shopped, and ate and drank all weekend. Great accommodations. Fun times

Amazing!

We were impressed by the cleanliness of the place. It has a fully stocked kitchen (crock pot, toaster, Keurig, coffee maker, baking pans) Very tastefully decorated. It felt homey. The proximity to Main St with all the shops and restaurants was very convenient. No need to drive, unless we went to explore. Only cons: steep stairs to get up to the apartment. The bedroom with the on-suite doesn’t have a window We would stay here again! 5⭐️ all around

Best place to stay in Galena

Spotless, perfect location and a great parking spot, which was helpful because parking is hard to come by. The place had the cutest decor and comfortable beds. Everything you could think of was provided! Even came with a speaker and games for a perfect night in. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Perfect Downtown Galena Getaway Spot

The bedrooms are a good size an I oive they were on opposite sides of the communal living area. Parking was super convenient and the home is located so close to all the restaurants and shops! The rental manager was very responsive. My only advice would be additional wash clothes for facial cleaning.

Fabulous place!

First off, you can’t beat the location and dedicated parking space! The suite was the perfect size for 4-5 people! Even though there is not a dining table the island had plenty of room for us to spread out to use for our various needs. The beds were so comfortable!!! All of us have different bed preferences but everyone was so happy with how well we slept in them! There were enough side tables for everyone to use. We’ve stayed at our share of vrbos and it was so nice to have toilet paper and papers towels stocked. The communication with the Mgr was easy and fast response. The only minor thing we could suggest is a set of coasters for our drinks as we did not want to ruin the side tables or night stands. Oh, and yes you will need to go up steps to the suite but there are steps everywhere in Galena! We agree we would stay here again for sure!!

Our building has a fascinating history - we love to share!
The building is on Lot 27 on the East side of Main St
July 1836 The 1st survey of Galena was completed (new law required by Congress), it was determined that the property was owned by Michael Murphy
June 1837 Murphy sold to Buckner Lane for, $1,400
August 1837 Lane sold to William Van Zandt for, $1,400
1839 Van Zandt sold to Gustavius P Billion for $2,100
1841-1851 For ten years there were levies against the property, lawsuits, etc. 2/3 of the property was owned by numerous people.
1856 Nicholas Stahl bought Lot 27 at public auction for $600
1857 Wm Snyder bought Lot 27 at public auction for $639
August 1868 At this point there were still two parcels of land – The front on Main St and the South on Commerce St. A Common wall was built in the middle and had two owners.
August 1868 Richard Barrett bought out Snyder’s 1/3 of the building for $1,150
1917 Barrett family sold to Charles Simon $5,500
January 1919 R.A. Grant bought Lot 27 for $8,000 (no relation to the President)
April 1934 Grant sold to Charles Kastner for $6,000
June 1953 Kastner sold to Edward Burke for $5,400
February 1973 Sam and Fran Byers (our grandparents) bought Lot 27 for $19,000 (although they moved into this building in Galena in 1963)
2009 Zeal Brothers Trust was established and became owners of the building
