This self contained 950 square foot home is suitable for 1- 2 people looking for privacy and luxury. From marble counter tops to custom art , flooring and furniture you will feel you are surrounded by the finest of everything. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you will need for whipping up a gourmet meal while taking in the gorgeous west coast panorama out your large kitchen windows . The bathroom boasts floor to ceiling natural stone tiles from Peru, heated flooring and a large walk in shower. The charming bedroom with queen bed is done up with soft comfortable linens looks out its own double French doors onto a wooded wonderland. Watch deer wander by as you sip your morning coffee in front of the custom cement fireplace with gas insert. There is parking for 2 vehicles. The cottage sits on a lovely natural 5 acre parcel of land with the owners house approximately 100 meters further along the private lane. The owners will respect your full privacy yet are more than happy and available for answering questions The charming village of Brentwood Bay is 5 mins away by car, here you will find all the conveniences you need, grocery stores, liquor stores, coffee shops, drug stores, medical clinic as well as the Brentwood Bay lodge that boasts a world class restaurant, pub, spa and marine shop where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, eco cruises and scuba diving equipment.. Butchart gardens as well as numerous hiking trails, lakes and beaches are only minutes away. Victoria city is 15 mins, and the sea side town of Sidney is 15 mins. (Sorry-NO WEDDING WEEKENDS)

From the moment we walked in the door we felt like every detail had been thought of and that the ambience was a level above anything found in the description. Kathleen was incredibly responsive and kind. If i could give this review more than 5 stars i would have done so.

Magical!
Pictures don’t do this place justice! Just up the end of a cul-de-sac, you’re in the middle of the woods. Cute little cabin from the outside, but the inside… WOW, just amazing! Beautifully appointed and designed and feels much larger than it actually is. Lovely outdoor areas to sit and relax… we saw flocks of finches and a family of deer. Owner was extremely helpful, kind and available. The best VRBO we have stayed in, hands down! Wish we didn’t have to leave. Thank you for a truly winderful stay!

This place was incredible! It’s close enough to Victoria for convenience but far enough to feel like a peaceful escape. Nestled in the woods, it offers the perfect sense of seclusion. I’m definitely coming back!

Oasis in the woods
This cottage is accurately described & shown in the photographs. Kathleen was lovely to communicate with, considerate and responsive. A lot of time & attention has been spent to ensure guests are comfortable and have everything they need. This was very much appreciated. The quality of workmanship, furnishings and decor is above the standard we have experienced in high end hotels/rentals. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area; hikes, beaches, farms plus sidney and Victoria should you choose. The joy is returning to the cottage after a day of exploring to the peace & tranquility of the cottage grounds. The energy in the surrounding forest is palpable. If you are thinking of booking don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing woodland retreat!
We just returned from staying in Kat’s Cottage for five nights while visiting family. Every detail has been thought of and executed with style and sense of place. The cottage’s location can’t be beat, close to attractions and points of interest and an oasis to which you can retreat at the end of the day. The owners were communicative and helpful before, during, and after our visit. Would highly recommend, and can’t wait to return.

Beautiful Cottage Getaway!
The property and the cottage was absolutely amazing! We didn't want to leave. The view from every direct was relaxing. We enjoyed morning coffee outside on the front porch. We saw dear, bunnies and birds bathing in the birdbath. Oh, and the kitchen was a dream! It was difficlut to decide on exploring the sites or staying in. We did a bit of both. We enjoyed

Lovely Very Clean Secluded Cottage
Great location and private setting. We were there 16 days. All kitchen utensils, many spices, cooking oil, appliances all in good shape. Some technical things: There were only two operated/screened windows on the same wall so no flow-through ventilation was possible. (we bought a fan) Bathroom shower has a low curb that extends into the middle of the room; it's odd and dangerous! Almost seriously injured myself tripping on it the first night. But after once, I didn't do it any more! In spite of the design issues, we will definitely book again.

A beautiful cottage in a magical setting
The cottage is stunning and the woodland setting beyond gorgeous. We were visiting Victoria for a few days and wanted a quiet and peaceful setting. This cottage surpassed our expectations, only a short 30 minute drive to the city, while feeling like it is a million miles away. A truly relaxing experience, with very good communication from Kathleen. Thank you.

It’s everything you can imagine!!
The cottage was gorgeous, well appointed with everything you need. The backdrop of the woods makes it a special experience. Butchart Gardens are 5 minutes away. We loved spending the day in Victoria, then heading out of town to escape the crowds. It’s about 10 miles from Victoria.

Magical
This authentic European style cottage is exactly how the listing details. Every detail of the cottage was first class. The property surrounding the cottage is forested and extremely quiet. This was a restful way to wind down and get in touch with nature. Oh and the cottage is appointed by original artwork.

You can’t beat aces!
From beginning to end this was a remarkable holiday rental. The peaceful woodsy setting and beautiful cottage were enhanced by ease of entry and the host’s caring communication throughout. If one wants town temptations Sidney and Victoria are but a short drive away. Rentals don’t get better than this. Hated to leave but plan to return. A huge thanks to our host from my daughter and me .

Cottage is exactly as described if not better. Kitchen is well appointed. Bed was very comfortable. Shower was a dream. Even watched 2 dvds while away. Our stay was cut short by weather mishaps and i truly would have relished an extra day. Close proximity to Victoria, Sydney, hikes, kayaking, the Butchart Gardens, wine and so much more. Great little weekend getaway!
This little cottage was perfectly isolated from the world, yet close to amenities. The hosts provided great suggestions for local hikes and restaurants. The home was beautifully kept and the kitchen was more than expected for a Vrbo. The countless movie selection and fireplace made the evenings perfect.

Fairy Tale-like Luxury French Cottage with Incredible Host
Kat’s Cottage: What an incredible combination: a very comfortable fairy-tale-like cottage in a lovely, forested setting, a gracious hostess who had anticipated and provided for our every need or desire, and a great location, very close to world renowned attractions, yet an easy drive to downtown Victoria. This has to be a 5* Vrbo property all around! The cottage has large windows in every direction to enjoy the beautiful setting comprised of natural forest and many potted plants, lots of outdoor seating, a quality grill, and an abundance of nature. It is comfortably furnished and has a great selection of movies and music available for the guests' enjoyment, lots of storage and a kitchen that most of us would dream of having in our primary residence, let alone a vacation home. The host, Kathleen, is a talented artist who has used that talent to tastefully design and furnish the cottage. Many of her own original works are on display in the cottage. She has also provided a notebook with recommendations for restaurants, farm markets, and grocery stores in the area. If you are fortunate enough to be able to book Kat’s Cottage for your stay (and it must be very much in demand), be sure to visit some of the following attraction right in the area: 1. Butchart Gardens (a 55 acre exquisitely designed and maintained flower garden), 2. The Butterfly Gardens, 3. Heritage Acres and 4. Vancouver Island Model Engineers, a steam-driven model railroad (big boys and their toys).

Delightful cottage in the woods
The cottage is simply delightful. The owners are artists, and it’s beautifully done. The kitchen was one of the most well-stocked we have ever seen. Really loved our stay! Would definitely book again.

Great cottage
If you are looking for a place that is away from all of the other tourists but still close to Victoria and Sidney, this is the perfect spot. Very close to Butchart Gardens and a short drive from the two cities, this was great. My only small suggestion would be to add screens to the windows in order to open them at night to cool the house down and so no mosquitos can get in.

They are both business owners and grew up on Vancouver Island. Kathleen is a painter and you will notice many of her art works decorating the cottage. They both are avid hikers so can tell you all the best trails for hiking.

Why they chose this property

We love living in rural Saanich. We used to live in Victoria city for 20 years but then bought and built our house out here in 2002. Saanich is so beautiful, full of so much to do, hiking, wineries, beaches, lakes yet many interesting shops, pubs and resteraunts. We are still discovering new little eateries or exciting hiking trails! We feel our property is very special and hope others will enjoy its natural beauty as much as we do.
