About this property
5 bedroom lakefront cabin at Pigeon Lake just 1 hour from Edmonton
Make memories at our lakefront cottage. Summer or winter there is so much to do here!
Summer has swimming, fishing, trail jogging, bike riding, 2 golf courses, walks, bbq, outdoor fire pit, etc. In winter it's XC skiing, skating, ice-fishing, snow shoe, stargazing, board games, puzzles, movies on our big TV, and reading by our fireplace.
The lake is great for kids as it has a sandy bottom and is shallow for a long way out. We have treed and private lakefront land 50' wide right at the lake itself.
Our property consists of 2 buildings: a large cottage and a separate bunkhouse. The cottage is a 4 season, 2 storey house. The main floor has the entrance area, a full bathroom, the kitchen, dining / living room, and the outdoor deck overlooking the lake. The top storey has a bathroom and three bedrooms arranged as a huge master bedroom with king size bed, closet, and private walk-out deck facing the lake. The second bedroom has a queen bed and closet, and the kids room with two single beds. The basement has a dual purpose room containing a queen size bed, but also a sofa and a 65" TV with streaming channels.
The bunkhouse / garage is a separate 4 season building. It has heat and electricity but no water (and therefore no toilet). This building is half bunkhouse which can easily sleep four guests. The other half of this building is the garage which is not for guest's access.
The plot of land is quite large and is sort of pie shaped. It is 50 feet wide at the lake's shore line, and 100 feet wide at the back yard. The yard is done done in grass and is big enough for kids to run around and play. The yard also has raspberry bushes to enjoy, so help yourself.
Guests can make use of (almost) our entire property: The main cottage, and the bunk house, our private lakefront "oasis", and the large back yard. The only areas where guests don't have access are a few closets in the cottage and bunk house where we keep our clothes and a few personal effects, and the garage where I have some tools and other items that may be dangerous for little ones.
Lastly, if you are considering booking during the month of May, then allow us to inform you about Mayfly season. There is a two or three week period in May (and sometimes into the beginning of June) where the Mayfly population explodes. Many people will find this unbearable. The bugs do not bite, but the enormous quantity of them flying around is too much for most people, so keep that in mind if you're considering to book in May!
Lastly, we have cats that often come out to the cottage with us, so please be advised in case you are allergic to cats.

About the host
Hosted by Michael VanderZee

He we are Michael and Amanda from the nearby city of Edmonton. We are avid travellers and have been VRBO guests ourselves.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this cottage on Pigeon Lake to enjoy with our family and we absolutely love it here. No regrets whatsoever. We're happy to share a few weeks per year with others who also appreciate being out of the city for time together.
What makes this property unique
Having a good size cottage on a property that is right on the lake is so convenient. Add to that the fact that the lake is very shallow for a long ways out makes this a great spot for you and your kids. Another unique aspect of our property is our back yard: it is quite large and offers plenty of space for kids to safely play away from the water. Finally, I would add how convenient it is that we have an outdoor shower to wash the kids before letting them back inside!
