Summary:
Whether you're visiting New Orleans for work or for a nice long break, you'll love staying here in the Marigny neighborhood. Our place is clean, stylish, and has everything you need for a home away from home. Fun, hip neighborhood that's great for walking, you'll love exploring Nola with this shotgun apartment as your home base. There's also space to work if you want a place to spread out, a full kitchen with everything you need to cook a great meal, and even in-unit laundry.
The Space:
This is a full private apartment, half of a "shotgun double" which is setup with one room leading into the next, with no hallway, going back to the back door. The kitchen towards the back leads out to the back yard. Very traditional setup and typical of the pre-Civil War architecture of the neighborhood. That said, the rooms are roomy and very clean.
Guest Access:
Your private entry is at the sidewalk, and your private apartment is half of a shotgun double, with neighbors on the other side of the building. Back yard is shared, but you will have a semi-private back porch off the kitchen.
The Neighborhood:
Marigny is a bohemian district with beautiful architecture in a walkable neighborhood. It has its own vibrant nightlife, boutiques, and craft outlets, countless fun restaurants, funky coffee shops. There's great local history of this neighborhood, this street, this house. Just ask us! Please don’t miss out on the nightlife of Frenchmen St, a short walk away. And we don’t work for them, but just head to the gem we love that is Who Dat Cafe and tell ‘em Tom & James sent ya! You’ll love it!
Getting Around:
Parking available on the street, one-way street and street parking is not assigned and is on a first-come first-served basis. Street parking is usually not a problem on the block.
City buses available nearby on St. Claude Ave. The streetcar does not service our neighborhood at this time.
All-electric "Blue Bikes" available nearby and are especially useful for quick trips inside the Bywater/Marigny/French Quarter/Mid-City/Uptown neighborhood areas. A monthly subscription is very affordable and includes one free hour a day of bike use.
Other Things to Note:
On-street parking
Door security is via electronic keypad. Please see house manual for more instructions after you book. Or feel free to call with questions.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available via cell phone your entire stay, most guests say we are very attentive. We lead busy lives so we'll stay out of your hair, but we are there for you anytime, day or night, and we love to meet new people and give recommendations. Please enjoy our home, your home for your visit to New Orleans. We are really very excited to share with you and hope you have a memorable experience.

About the host
Hosted by James Cristina

My husband Tom and I love hosting because we want everyone to have the opportunity to live in New Orleans, and especially the Marigny neighborhood. Our passions include travel, good restaurants, music, home renovation/remodeling/building, property management, and gardening. I'm born and bred in the Gulf South between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and Tom is a transplant from Chicago but most people are polite to him anyway.
Why they chose this property
Over 20 years ago, when house hunting, we found a vibrant and inclusive neighborhood that had the right balance of local history, creative energy, and that certain funk that you find so often in New Orleans but nowhere else I've seen. Perfect geography given the rest of the city, to us this is the "center" of everything, and a crossroads of cultures. The traditions and events here revolve with the beauty and regularity of the seasons. We hope we contribute to and share the culture of the Marigny in a way that respects the past and helps propagate the future.
