About this property

Comfy, Cozy, Central! Welcoming craftsman home near Hawthorne Blvd & Division

Relax in a beautiful, quiet craftsman home, just a 5-minute walk to nearby hip Hawthorne & Division Streets! Enjoy spacious, comfy bedrooms, a newly remodeled bath, as well as large living & dining rooms and a front porch. Classic, cozy, old-school Portland style. Lots of street parking, on a bike street, in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Decorated with photography and filled with antique cameras. We include a polaroid camera you can use to capture memories of your trip.

THE SPACE:

Welcome home! This cute apartment makes up the entire main floor of a 2 unit duplex. It is an old Portland craftsman home with tons of character and charm. A cozy living room and dining room, 2 bedrooms with queen beds as well as a pull-out couch in the living room with a queen size bed.

The home is in a safe and clean neighborhood and sits along a designated bikeway. We also have cruiser bikes for you to use during your stay if you would like to rent them. The bathroom was recently remodeled and has a beautiful glass and tile walk-in shower with a rain head. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook.

Porch: Several chairs and a table to lounge and people watch all the bikers during the summer. Shaded by vines.

Entryway: The entryway into the house is small and shared with the upstairs unit.

Living room: Comfy sleeper sofa (full bed), and oversized sofa chair. Built-ins with antique cameras. Extra blankets. Tasteful artwork.

Dining room: Open concept with the living room. Dining room table seats 4. Built-ins, a poloroid camera (in a drawer), books, and some games to play.

Kitchen: Full sized fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal, coil-top electric range and oven, coffee machine, coffee and tea, spices and other basics.

Bathroom: Glass and tile shower. Newly renovated.

Bedrooms: Queen sized beds, closets, and dressers.

Backyard: It's a pretty small space, but it's fully fenced in. It has a little covered patio area with chairs so that you can sit outside comfortably in the rain. The backyard is shared with the upstairs tenant.

Basement: The laundry machines are in the basement. Accessible through the kitchen. The basement area is shared with the upstairs tenant. There are two washers and 2 dryers. Please don't overload the washers or they won't function properly. Down here, you'll also find a stroller, pack and play crib, and high chair.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE!

I have found over time that every VRBO is different and every guest’s expectations are different when they book a short term rental. It is my goal to make sure that I am as transparent as possible so that you can make an educated decision on your choice of where you would like to stay.

PET POLICY: All pets must be approved in advance. You must confirm that the animal has no history of property destruction, indoor urination/defecation, aggression, or excessive noise. We expect you to have the animal with you or crated when you're not home. In order to maintain an allergen-low environment for other guests, I have cleaners do deep cleans after every animal stays there and hire a carpet / upholstery cleaner if necessary. Any undisclosed pet will result in a large penalty. FEES: Dogs and cats: 14 days or less: $100 // 15 days or more: $200. This fee does not cover any damages caused by the pet that result in excessive cleaning or repairs.

ESAs / Service animals: If you have an ESA animal please send me a copy of the paperwork including the letter from your healthcare provider. If you have a service animal trained to help you with a disability, I will be asking you the following legally allowable questions:
1) Is the service animal required because of a disability?
2) What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? (Your disability does *not* need to be disclosed)

NOISE: No excessive noise. No parties. No yelling. Quiet hours are 10pm - 8am.

SMOKING: No smoking anywhere on the property. Not in the backyard. Not on the porch. Not in the driveway.

CLEANING: Sometimes a cleaner does a poor job and it catches me (and you!) off guard. Please let me know if the cleaner missed something(s) important and allow me to fix the issue. I assure you that I strongly value cleanliness and any lack of cleanliness is not on purpose.

OLD HOUSE: This unit is located in an old, craftsman house. Old houses come with a lot of unique charm. But they also tend to have issues that crop up – not out of negligence, but just out of simple wear and tear and age. They may have creaky floors, squeaky doors, old house smells, windows that are a bit funky to open, worn spots on the floor, etc. I try to address issues as quickly as they arise, but some issues are not going to be possible to address during your stay (such as a creaky floor or an old house smell). When booking this unit you are acknowledging this reality and that you are not going to be met with a fancy new construction or brand new furniture.

GUEST UPSTAIRS: This unit has another apartment above it. As such, you will often hear the normal noises of other tenants in the building. This may include: people walking, pets walking, pets occasionally barking, muffled voices, muffled music, muffled TV noises, furniture being moved, the occasional thing being dropped on the floor. We inform our upstairs tenants to keep aware of tenants below, to wear socks, to keep their dogs from excessive barking, to keep quiet hours of 10pm - 8am. However, there is a certain level of noise that is not possible to control. If you notice the upstairs tenants causing excessive noise, especially during quiet hours, please let us know. If you would like us to bring over a noise machine, please let us know. By booking this unit, you acknowledge this reality of potential noise.

AC: We will be installing 3 AC units in the house during the summer. Let us know when it starts getting hot and we will come put them in (portable AC and window AC units).

SUPPLIES: We provide you enough supplies to get you through a month. If you end up staying more than a month, it is on you to purchase your own supplies (e.g. TP, shampoo, etc)

Craftsman on Lincoln

It was lovely being in a Craftsman. But the noise from little feet upstairs was a bit much. Also recommend putting lighting on the street stairs. Otherwise a good stay. Thx.

Wonderful location!

This pet friendly home is located in the wonderful Hawthorne-Division neighborhood, with shops, restaurants, and more all located within walking distance. We spent hours on the front porch watching the bikes and runners go by. We will definitely stay there again!

Charming Craftsman

I was coming for a class and brought a friend of 50 years with me. It was clean and had a beautiful shower. Should be noted that there is no TV (for some this might be an issue). Great collectibles (old camera collection) and several special decor items. Overall lovely and comfortable.

Location Location Location

Comfortable home with character nestled on a lovely tree-lined street within easy walking distance to lots of shops, cafes and really yummy eats! Highly recommend Oma’s Hideaway. Interior of the home was clean and comfortable with all the basics. Front and backyard spaces needed a bit of cleanup to really enjoy, but otherwise the property was as described to include ac units in each room which helped significantly to keep it comfortable in the summer.

Classic House in Beautiful Neighborhood

This is a wonderful place to just hang. The living room is spacious with a beautiful dining room. Kitchen has everything you need. We didn't cook but did have breakfast and aperativos there. Everyone loved the shower. We knew the neighborhood is gorgeous, which is why we wanted to be there. Nice for walks and close to a lot of nice places. Nice place!

Nice roomy house in great location.

House is situated in the Hawthorne area - very walkable to restaurants and shops! Great location, plenty of street parking. Kitchen is well stocked. The redone bathroom is very nice. I did know there was no TV from a previous review I read, which I think should be in the listing. It’s an older home…. So furnishings and home are a bit worn. Would be nice too I think if there was some sort of info left in the unit just mentioning the nearby restaurants and shops they recommend. House does offer the 2 bedrooms and is roomy for a lot of people.

Like Being at Home

Wonderful home to stay in while attending a family wedding, close to the neighborhood where they live. Quiet and comfortable, great location, walkably close to many restaurants and markets. Located on a Neighborhood Greenway street. A/C in each bedroom and living room helped tremendously as it was a 90 degree weekend, but on other days house was airy and cool, and nice to have a front porch in the front. Large roomy living room and dining room. It really did feel like home, great place to relax and not have to rush around or be cramped in a hotel room. No TV (which we didn't mind), and be sure to bring coffee with you if you want to fix a pot in the morning. Luckily New Seasons Market and Fred Mayer are just down the block to pick up food for the kitchen. Plenty of coffee shops and restaurants are nearby, also. We will definitely consider staying here again next time we visit.

Spacious, clean well located apt.

Very clean, spacious, comfortable, conveniently located apartment in a quiet neighborhood that made sleeping divine. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen equipment, perfect for early morning and late evening coffee and tea. Miscommunications about access codes caused entry and exit problems the first day, but these were quickly resolved with the kind, attention of the host. Be sure to read the detailed host check in email on entry details. Some of the problem was caused by VRBO app malfunctioning.

Nice Property in Great Portland Location

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Located within walking distance to great local shops, restaurants and breweries and close to local bus lines. 15 minutes to downtown. Quiet neighborhood with lots of street parking. House is comfortable and nicely setup for relaxing or entertaining. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood

We enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect...close to Hawthorne and Division and not too far from downtown. The property is the spacious first floor of a two story house so there is some noise from upstairs. The bathroom is updated with a great shower. The access code for the front door was listed incorrectly so we had some delay with checking in. There’s also no TV in the unit, although internet is strong. Overall it was a good stay.
