About this property
Rossini's Cottage - Private Sauna Hills Escape
Previously the home to a charming apple orchard, this beautiful freestone 1 bedroom cottage overlooks the valley creating scenic serenity to be enjoyed both day and night. With different views from every room, this enchanting cottage sets the tone for romantic getaways, wine weekends or an escape to remember, nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills that’s perfect all year round. If you’re lucky, you’ll see wedgetail eagles soaring over the valley and kangaroos in the backyard.
Retaining the character of the original floorboards, the gorgeous lounge has a plush couch to relax and sit back to watch the smart TV, and it’s dressed with a floor rug and Scandi timbers. Recently installed combustion fire place for cozy evenings snuggled up by the crackling fire.
The country style kitchen is a mix of vintage charm and contemporary quality using the original brick chimney and the cast iron stove, floating timber shelves, heritage colours, original floorboards and exposed freestone walls to retain its authenticity while enhancing it with Hamptons style cabinetry, an electric 3-hob hotplate, underbench oven and the kitchen sink.
A a timber dining table for 4 with jute rug gives it that farmhouse feel. The restful bedroom is highlighted with modern neutral tones and features a stunning king size bed, original floorboards, a timber open wardrobe, full length mirror, sauna towels and timber blinds for privacy.
The bathroom connects with the stone theme with its stone floored shower, with the modern amenity of a shaker style vanity and toilet, and is furnished with fresh white towels. A separate laundry also houses the fridge, the coffee machine, microwave and cleaning needs. The gorgeous verandah at the front, sets the scene for your morning coffee overlooking the undulating hills, while there are many other pockets to enjoy the fresh air around the cottage, including a sunken area that’s home to a firepit, a second setting for two and a timber dining setting with umbrella where you can spread out with the paper or indulge in a selection of local produce while you cook some steaks on the barbecue, amongst the apple trees and grape vines.
A cedar Japanese infra-red sauna sits adjoining the cottage giving you a place to rejuvenate the body and spirit (fits 3 people) with an outdoor shower to complete the experience.
Rossini’s Cottage is the perfect getaway to experience the stunning autumn colours, the crisp winter nights by the outdoor fire, the sunny spring days with the floral fragrance in the air, and the hot summers under the cooling shade of the hills.

Located in the Adelaide Hills, Crafers West is home to the Eagle Mountain Bike Park, Clealand Conservation Park, Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens and the headwaters of Brown Hill Creek. It’s hilly and full of native greenery, making it secluded and tranquil.
Belair National Park has plenty of attractions including the Lower Waterfall Lookout, Karka Pavilion, the State Flora Nursery and plenty of hiking trails. With the closest shops in Stirling, where you’ll find great cafes, Woolworths supermarket, professional services and medical clinics including the Stirling Hospital, you can also discover some fabulous cafes in Crafers itself.
Only 12 minutes to Hahndorf, the centre of the wine district of the Adelaide Hills, you can jump between the wineries, explore the Jurlique Farm, try your hand at digging for gold at the Jupiter Creek Gold Diggings or climb the Mount Lofty Summit. For foodies, you can enjoy a Taste of Beerenberg throughout the year at the Beerenberg Farm, High Tea at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, or a Taste of the Hills Festival in March 2024.
The AFL have also added some games to their schedule in Mount Barker. Car enthusiasts will love the Holden’s Heroes exhibition at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood until December 2024, and cyclists will love the undulating hills and beauty of this glorious district.
It’s best to get to our stay by car, however there are bus services including the 893 894 and 894H on Waverley Ridge Road taking you into Aldgate. There are taxi and Uber services, as well as hop-on-hop-off buses to some wineries.
Only 17 kilometres, 24 minute drive, from Adelaide’s city centre, Crafers is accessible by bus, car, taxi or Uber. The 864F bus from Crafers takes about 40 minutes to get into the CBD and costs around $4.00. A taxi will cost between $35-$50. Adelaide Airport is around 40 minutes away.
You could bring a road bike and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the hills with pedal power. As the roads are quite windy, it’s probably advisable not to walk the roads by foot.
Our place is regional, so while we minimise the effects of insects and wildlife, they are likely to be around. The weather can be crisp in winter with a rare snow fall, and sweltering in summer regularly in the mid 30s (Celsius) during December to February. Best to pack accordingly.
