Koiata (Turakina Beach) is about 12 km and great for fishing/whitebaiting, swimming and beach walks. Nearby boarding schools include Nga Tawa Diocesan, Huntley and Whanganui Collegiate.

Distances are about 21 km to Wanganui, 26 km Bulls, 20 km to Marton or 55 km to Palmerston North, 181 km to Wellington.
