About this property

Prairie House on the Americana Farm

Summary:
Nestled amidst the scenic landscapes of North Alabama, The Prairie House offers a serene escape just minutes away from I59, Mentone, and Fort Payne. Perched atop Sand Mountain, this charming retreat sits along a picturesque road, enveloped by the sprawling beauty of a generational family farm. Set on a six-acre flower and vegetable farm, the cabin boasts sweeping views of Sand Mountain from every vantage point, inviting guests to revel in the vibrant blooms of sunflowers, California poppies, and other botanical treasures!

The Space:
Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature at our renovated and expanded log cabin home. The lovingly restored original 1880s hand-hewn logs offer a glimpse into the past. Perched high above Sand Mountain on Americana Farm, a six-acre flower and vegetable farm, the home provides unparalleled views from every window and porch, a nature
lover's dream!
The 1880s farm log cabin remains intact with cathedral open beam ceilings and an original stone fireplace. It was once the entire home for an Alabama farm family.
The original log cabin is now the master/family bedroom, offering a glimpse of the past in the comfort of luxury and design. The master has a luxurious king bed and a full bunk bed. An antique dresser for extra
storage and an original cedar armoire offers plenty of storage space. A private sitting area away from the rest of the home gives guests a chance to soak in the ambiance of the old cabin.
Four oversized covered porches hug the home. Rocking chairs, a dining table, a hammock, and oversized games give guests plenty of relaxation options. The firepit is off of the front porch, with endless views of the
pastures, rolling hills, flower fields, Lookout Mountain, and cattle.
Upon entry, derived from the original open concept of farmhouse living in the 1800's, you will fall in love with the family room, dining, and kitchen space.
The unique hand-burned triple molding and tin ceilings are
unique and beautiful. The old blue-painted doors will make you smile. Guests immediately notice the views of cattle, farmland, and flower fields out of every window! The light-filled space has a cozy family area
offering three sofas (one is a pullout), all centered around the views and antique repurposed fireplace mantle.
The farmhouse dining table is large enough for up to 14 to dine and play games and puzzles. The kitchen is fun and inviting, with an oversized dining island, convection oven, dishwasher, large microwave, and
refrigerator. The cook in the family will find everything needed to feed the family! The kitchen has plenty of storage for your groceries and supplies.
The bath and a half is between the bedrooms and family space. Completely renovated, the oversized clawfoot tub is the centerpiece of the bathroom. Enjoy a bit of luxury with a marble
top vanity and antique mirror. Both bathrooms have ceiling heaters for comfort. The large half bath is an additional functional space with a large window and two mirrors for getting dressed for your day.
The two additional bedrooms adjoin each other; both are queen bedrooms. One offers a beautiful iron bed, and the second has an antique bed, circa 1870, from an Alabama plantation with a matching dressing table.
Also on the property is Liberty Lodge, a smaller home perfect for two or a small family of 3-4. Prairie House and Liberty Lodge are available to rent individually or can be rented together as a retreat property.
The property also features a storm shelter.
