About this property
Absolute waterfront retreat with outstanding views, just 15 min north of Dunedin
This modern, fully equipped, 2-bedroom cottage comes with all the amenities needed for a comfortable, self-contained getaway all the year around. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed. There is an open plan living/dining area, a crafted kitchen, a bathroom and laundry. Heating/aircon is provided by a heat pump. There is also a wood burner. Luxury features including under-tile heating in the kitchen/dining area, fine cotton linens, and an outdoor, wood fired clawfoot bath. This retreat is perfect for couples or for small families, with twin single beds in the second bedroom.
The cottage is nestled on the shore of the Blueskin Bay, near Warrington, just 25 km north of the centre of Dunedin via SH1. Open the door and step inside - nature takes centre stage with sweeping views over the Bay to the Warrington sand dune spit, Rabbit Island, Doctors Point and the hills behind.
Blueskin Bay is a large tidal inlet providing a dynamic environment and important habitat for native coastal birds. Avian residents include oystercatchers, godwits, terns, shags, and herons. Watch then wade and feed from the comfort of the lounge. Use the spotting scope for a zoomed-in view.
The property is set within mature native flora where native forest birds also abound. In addition to kingfisher, you’re likely see tui, bell birds, kereru, fan tail and silver eye.
The property provides a perfect retreat to relax with recreational opportunities available where guests feel inclined: launch a kayak from your own pebbled beach, walk or swim at Warrington Beach. Locally there's the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, the walking tracks in Evansdale Glen Scenic Reserve and Doctors Point Beach.
This place also makes an ideal base from which to explore greater Dunedin's many attractions.
