About the host
Hosted by Susannah
We purchased The Churches with a dream of creating a special base for guests to stay. Rich in history and character and perfectly positioned at the gateway of the North East Victoria. The start of the Great Dividing Range, rail trail, Lake Eildon, the ski fields, wineries and many charming and vibrant neighbouring towns. There is so much to do and see!
We are passionate about travel and expectations and look forward to you staying a The Chapel to relax or explore!

Why they chose this property
The township of Yarck sits on the Maroondah Hwy approx 130km or 1.45 hours from Melbourne. Yarck was the name of a cattle station, thought to be derived from the Aboriginal word yaruk, meaning long river. The area was called Home Creek until 1903, and the first Home Creek school was opened in 1870. It closed in 1873 and another one was opened the following year.
Even though Yarck has a small population of under 180 people it boasts a bustling vibe with people stopping for a break on their way to various destinations throughout the Great Divide and beyond or stay and utilize the town for its brilliant proximity to the area.
Dindi Naturals, Bucks Bakery, Giddy goat and the Yarck Hotel offer a perfect place to stretch your legs and replenish!
The Churches sit on the main tree lined street. Beautiful autumn colours, mountain ranges in the background. Beautiful old buildings oozing with history make for an interesting place to explore and stay.

What makes this property unique
There is no doubt that not everyone could say they have stayed in a Church built in 1878! The Chapel with its original timber facade, arched double doors, timber floors and vaulted ceiling has been beautifully converted into a spacious, delightful area with light filled arched windows and steel beams.
It is a peaceful, relaxing splendid building which you will soak up whether you are after a quiet break or a energetic adventure!
