Amazing and memorable time!
Our time here was so relaxing and peaceful yet so fun! We slept in longer than we ever have! The indoors is beautifully done and the property grounds were a child’s dreams from jumping on the trampoline to roasting s’mores (thanks Stephanie!) to catching and releasing minnows! The host is very responsive, flexible and kind which made it such a pleasant time. Can’t wait to visit again!!!

I am from Caledon and enjoy being able to promote it as a place to come with friends and family to celebrate at a wedding or unwind for a weekend away.

Why they chose this property

We love Alton. It’s a hidden gem of a small town with big city amenities like fine dinning and spa services at the Millcroft, wonderful art at the Alton Mill, a tonne of hiking trails nearby. It also has great locally owned options like Gather Cafe and Rays Bakery. It’s a super walkable town with lots of friendly people out walking their dogs or bike riding with their kids. We lived in Alton full time for almost 7 years before needing to transition to caring for family members. We had to continue to be a part of its community and our answer was Vrbo.

What makes this property unique

This property is a 1960’s gem with solid wood walls. That means all the electrical is run through electrician installed conduit on the surface of the wall, think industrial meets country. I wish I could take off the blue siding and show you the almost 5 inches of cedar that enclosed this cottage but then we would have no insulation. From the kitchen on the first story above the unfinished walkout basement you can watch the credit river rush past. The big backyard is a work in progress as we work to reclaim it from invasive intruders like Manitoba maples, grapevine, snow on the mountain and mint, safe to be around but a challenge to manage.
