Our trip to Tasmania was based on two goals, chasing family history and a relaxing holiday. The Historic Court House and Gardens was the first property we looked at and knew we needed to stay here! Upon arrival, we were met by Graham who instantly made us feel at home. We toured the house and then the cells with him. His knowledge of both the building and local area is astounding! He left us alone to settle in but excitedly returned within about 30 minutes with a book containing the information we had spent the last 5 years looking for! The house was a delight to live in, comfortable, clean and the gardens, peaceful. We loved waking up to the view of trees, grass and Donald Duck, Brigitte and Eloise waddling around the yard. Whilst the black stove might look intimidating, it was heaven to use and easy to clean. Everything you could possibly need has been provided for. Whilst Colebrook has no shops, nearby towns provide grocery supplies, etc with Richmond being the closest. We had no problems doing this. Being situated in Colebrook, it is an ideal base for exploring a large part of Tasmania. Both Graham and Danielle are the perfect hosts, more than willing to help in any way. We whole heartedly recommend staying at this beautiful, historic place.
