About this property

2 bdrm, family friendly, Comfy Cottage in walking distance to….

You will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally located, period home. Start your day off with a great coffee and brunch, before heading to the waterfront for a relaxing wander to smell the fresh salty air. Some retail therapy on your way home never goes astray. Once home relax in comfort and refresh before heading out to try one of our excellent eateries or grabbing a drink along the infamous Pako strip.
After a short stint away, Edwina is back ready and better prepared for your visit!

In the short time we’ve been hosting our 1930s Edwardian cottage has welcomed many visitors. After being a long term rental this old lady was crying out for some attention and has been revived with lots of TLC and hard work! The exterior has received the most attention whilst the inside got a good scrub. Work is ongoing between stays with a new driveway and front path being the most recent additions. Plans are to do a major update on the kitchen and bathroom in keeping with her lovely lines and history but until then we thought we would have a bit of fun with her until then whilst giving others the opportunity to come and enjoy her eclectic charm and explore the region. Finding a mix of furniture to suit the space and to go alongside period pieces that also date back to the 1920s and 30s has been pure joy and hopefully you find it as charming and comfortable as we have intended. The cottage can sleep up to 4 comfortably with sufficient space for young ones or simply enjoying being able to spread out and breath.

Kitchen / Dining
The kitchen is fully-equipped with all the essentials including dishwasher, cookbooks, spices, oil spray, coffee machine with pods, variety of teas, sharp knives, pots/pans, wine glasses, bread and cheese boards. With a decent sized fridge / freezer you can stock up on all the goodies.

Bathroom / Laundry
The bathroom hosts a shower over a claw foot bath, comfy towels, hand and body wash, shampoo and conditioner and a hairdryer. It also serves as the laundry with a front loading washing machine and laundry tub. Essentials such as cleaning products and laundry sheets are provided with an air dryer or clothes line available out back.

Lighting
Living and bedrooms lights are remote controlled. Please leave Switches in the ‘On’ position to function.
Outdoor front and back lights are activated via sensors when light switches are kept in the ‘On’ position.

Infants Welcome
Infant essentials are available including a Roger Armstrong 3in1 portacot with bassinet, high chair, booster chair, baby bath and stand, change mat, and some toddler toys

Offspring Welcome
While the property is not fully secure and we do not have all the bells and whistles modern day offspring have become accustomed too, respectful offspring are welcome.

Heating / Cooling
Ceiling fans in bedrooms and living area. Operate by remote control.
Portable electric oil heaters can be moved to safely use in any of the areas.
Living room - Wall furnace heater
Operating instructions and manuals with safety guidelines provided.

Backyard
Driveway with parking space
Small patch of grass with and apple tree.
Outdoor table and chairs, bar table and stools.
Clothes linen

Walking, cycling or driving around is easy enough with parking along the street or in the driveway. Although rarely used, access needs to be retained to neighbouring yard as it is a shared driveway so best not to leave the car in the driveway all day if going out.

Rubbish pickup is early Thursday morning’s. Wheelie bins should be put out onto footpaths Wednesday evening

Manuals are located in the draw of the butchers table.

As this is not an anonymous service platform and hosts are welcoming guests into home environments this is a gentle reminder to future guests to share some information about themselves, any accompanying guests and trip plans to assist hosts in deciding whether the stay is the best fit before accepting a booking request. This will help to ensure a request is acknowledged in the required timeframe, and help to ensure a smooth, relaxed stay and hosting experience.
Especially relevant for requests from potential guests with no reviews for the host to refer to. Thankyou for your consideration.

Basic cooking and limited breakfast cereals and spreads are available as a supplement to personal goods; Unlike a BnB, daily breakfast services are not provided.

WiFi and Entertainment
Chrome cast is available on Family room TV for streaming from personal devices.
Turn on TV, select source HDMI2 using the small round button located top right above the central OK and chromecast screensaver should load. Open your streaming app on your personal device, eg Netflix, YouTube, etc select something to view and click on the chrome icon and connect to ‘Family Room TV.’ Sit back and enjoy.
Guests are encouraged to download streaming app prior to arrival as although WiFi is available and normally fine for general use, it may be variable from time to time mainly due to weather conditions or provider issues.
I have measured the internet speed in all rooms and it is best in living room with internet speeds in the range of 19-43 Mbps taken at various times and points within the room, Speed reduces to 10 Mbps as you move towards the front or rear of the cottage. The WiFi is suitable to access social media and emails, or documents, but may not be suitable for some HD streaming platforms. It is recommended that guests use personal data plans where possible to ensure smooth viewing if issues are experienced.

We live in the area so are only a text message away.

Quiet neighbourhood
The cottage was super clean, had space to spend time together or take a breather. Extra supplies in case you’d forgotten; salt and pepper for example! Great location- could walk to coffee, food and restaurants. Love that they use enviro friendly cleaning products.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi, my name is Greer. I was born Geelong in the 70s and after living in Melbourne and overseas I always wanted to come back to Geelong to raise my family. I’m a mother of two children who are both of in age now to spread their wings, which gives me a bit more time to explore other avenues other than full-time work. I’ve loved getting the cottage set up and we hope you find her as comfortable, as welcoming and inviting as we intended.

Why they chose this property

We have lived in the area for almost 30 years now raising our family. We’ve seen this end of Pako change from hardware and furniture stores to coffee houses and some of the best eateries in Geelong. Covid hit the area hard and our intention when opening the cottage up for short stays, was to bring in new faces to the area to enjoy and explore and support local.

What makes this property unique

Edwina isn’t just an old house or someone’s money maker; she is a gracefully aging home with a heart that we wish to share with others for a short time before potentially turning it back into a full-time rental once she’s ready.
