THE PROPERTY:
'Havana House' is a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom boutique retreat, set on half an acre of landscaped gardens, manicured lawns and terraced areas. It is located beside a koala corridor and overlooking serene bushland featuring a permanent underground spring. It is conveniently located just 800m from Montville shops and restaurants, and next door to Spicers Clovelly wedding venue, and the award-winning Long Apron Restaurant.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY: Havana House Luxury Retreat is designed to accommodate up to 12 guests, across four almost-identical primary bedrooms and a specially designed bunk room.

LAUNDRY: The laundry is incorporated into the largest bathrooms, with a combination washer/dryer. We provide eco-friendly washing detergent for our guests.

COMMUNAL AREAS:

OPEN PLAN DINING, LIVING AND KITCHEN:
The hub of the home is the open plan living space incorporating the kitchen, casual dining nook, formal dining area and lounge room.
The kitchen features a fabulous curved stone island bench, with stool seating for guests to connect with the cooks. All the appliances you could wish for are here, including integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher , induction cooktop/oven, a pod coffee machine, milk frother, a microwave, airfryer and blender.
For those informal gatherings, weve designed a fun and functional conversation pit and casual dining nook with integrated seating adjacent to the kitchen.
For more formal meals, a large oval table in the dining space is the ideal spot to host a fancy dinner party for friends and family.
The cosy lounge area, with its stone-encased fireplace, tv and seating for plenty is a great place to unwind without missing any of the holiday action.

OUTDOOR DINING: A large undercover outdoor verandah overlooking the terraced backyard is the perfect place to share a meal while listening to the native birds, spying our resident scrub turkey and spotting a koala in the surround trees. On the front porch, a quaint table setting is the perfect spot for a morning cuppa or afternoon wine, and the adjacent lounge is a great place to escape with a book.

SORRY NO PETS: Our picturesque location beside a dedicated koala corridor and sensitive nature area, means that unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets at Havana House. We apologise for the inconvenience. There are many other guests houses nearby that are able to provide for your precious furry family member.

ECO- AIR, WATER WASTE: While Fresh air and crystal clear creeks are a major drawcard to the Hinterland region, at Havana House we provide that same clean air and pure water for our guests. Those with allergies and immunity issues can rest assured that our home is fitted with the latest nano-technology water filtration system to ensure water purity across the property (even on our gardens).
We have also installed a highly-advanced air quality system which eliminates allergens, pollutants and odours within the home, while also maintaining an ambient temperature to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.
Even our wastewater system is eco-friendly. Our state-of-the-art Bio-cycle waste system ensures natural springs below us remain pristine as they flow into the nearby Lake Baroon.

THINGS TO DO:
Fancy a game of boules, cricket or croquet on the manicured lawns? We have a host of outdoor games to create lasting memories for you, your family and friends.
Or maybe you'd prefer to laze on a sunbed beanbag overlooking the property, under the umbrella reading a good book?
The firepit is a great spot to warm up, toast marshmallows and share some tall stories with friends and family.
Or if technology is your go-to, we have installed Starlink to ensure that you have fast internet speeds and premium online access during your stay.

RESTAURANTS:
While our kitchen has everything you should need to fix the perfect meal, if you don't feel like cooking, award-winning restaurant The Long Apron is right next door. Or head into nearby Montville for wood-fired pizza, a burger at the Bar Grill, or coffee and freshly baked croissants at Little Mays Espresso. Secrets on the Lake is a fabulous hidden gem that's a short 5 min drive, and the nearby Flame Hill Winery is great for an afternoon tipple.

A LITTLE BIT OF HINTERLAND HISTORY.
Havana House and the land surrounding it, is steeped in rich hinterland history. A dwelling that once adorned the site has been almost completely demolished and rebuilt, however part of the outer shell was able to be saved, stripped back and extensively renovated.
The site where Havana House now stands was once the croquet lawn of a vast Montville estate.
In the late 1800s, Elston, a magnificent and sprawling Queenslander homestead was established as the first guesthouse to accommodate visitors in the hinterland region.
It became a popular destination for holiday-makers from the city, was frequented by soldiers on leave from war, and was a favourite of politicians and diplomats of the time.
A tennis court, the croquet pitch and a swimming pool hand-constructed at the base of a waterfall, were huge drawcards for hundreds of visitors to the area for over 70 years.
But in the late 1950's, tragedy struck. A fierce bushfire raged through the area uncontrollably. The guesthouse caught alight and despite desperate attempts to save her, Elston sadly burnt to the ground.
Remnants of her existance remain, including the pool (in bushland at the rear of our property), a small outhouse (on the hill above Havana House), pillars of the front fence and a large pecan tree, which was planted especially for guests to enjoy fresh pecan nuts whilst they played croquet on the lawn.
Today, the 140 year old tree majestically towers over the rear lawn of 'Havana House', bearing masses of pecans each Autumn for guests to still enjoy to this day. Each night, the tree is lit up by lanterns draped over its limbs, as a reminder and testament to the rich history of its past.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
The property has an array of added-extras to indulge families, groups, couples or wedding parties with a memorable hinterland experience.
