About this property
The Rimu Hut: Luxury riverside and off-grid
Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis. Nestled on the banks of the Marokopa River near the base of the Hereranga Range west of Waitomo, this spot quiets your mind and reinvigorates your soul. At The Farm, we are all about providing the opportunity for people to find the space they need to disconnect from the busy world we live in. Come share this special place. Not your average off-grid cabin. Powered by 4Kw with more battery than you will ever need. Leave the lights on! The rimu hut is an eco-friendly hut situated within the Tamata Estate farm. The hut is powered by solar, serviced by fresh rainwater, and still has the luxuries of home with kitchen and bathroom facilities. This hut gives you the well-needed break you need for relaxing, disconnecting and enjoying the solitude of the space. The hut is set up with a queen bed on the ground floor and a double bed in the mezzanine. Both are fitted with 1000TC cotton sheets and have a couple of different feather pillows per person. You will not be wanting to get out of bed. Extra blankets on the end of your bed, and in the extra blanket basket if you tend to get cold. Or take them outside, hang out in the cape cod chairs on the deck and watch the stars. The hut is serviced by a full in-ground septic system (away from the hut so no smell), which means you have a full shower with great water pressure and full flushing toilets. In the shower, we have beautiful Ashley and Co body wash, shampoo and conditioner so you will feel fresh, clean and smell great. We love to encourage our guests to take the opportunity to disconnect from technology, but if you need to connect or are looking for a place to work remotely then you can use the starlink satellite internet we provide. An outdoor woodfired bath is set up for you to enjoy anytime during your stay. It is especially tranquil at night enjoy the private setting while star gazing. If you have an infant and would like to cot please let us know and we can set this up for you. Kids are welcome but due to the proximity of the river, the slope below and the usual hazards of being on a farm, we ask that if you would like them to stay that you are willing to keep a watch on them to keep them safe. enjoy The rimu hut is located within the farm and accessed along the farm track. We suggest you use a 4wd to drive along the tracks, if you don't have one, no worries, we are happy to provide you with one! You can park up on the farm and then transfer to our farm car that will be ready for you. The track is signposted and a short 5 to 10-minute drive out to the hut. Once you get to the hut, just park outside and enter the hut.
