Elk Laurel is the first home built in a 14-acre development with beautiful long-range views. Come explore the mountains while you enjoy the luxurious comfort of this elegantly finished log cabin.

This large family home boasts a huge wrap-around deck with a large hot tub, gas grill, and outdoor dining for 12. Enjoy the cool mountain evenings on the deck or sit on the bench surrounding the fire pit to roast marshmallows.

There are multiple areas inside so everyone can enjoy their own space while being together. The main level has an open floor plan with a well-stocked kitchen, a dining area with seating for 8, and a bar for 3. These adjoin the living area with the gas log fireplace and TV. Upstairs you will find a loft with a game table that seats 6 and a PS3 game system with an assortment of family-friendly games. Downstairs boasts a huge game room with a pool table, PS4 game system, a sleeper sofa, and comfortable chairs so you can enjoy the latest sports or movies on the large Smart TV. You will also find board games and books for all ages throughout the house. Do not forget to check out the garage, where you will find the ping pong table.

The 14-acre property is yours to explore. Although you may feel remote, Banner Elk is only 4 miles from the cabin, Valle Crucis is 5 miles away, and Boone is less than 30 minutes. Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain are both within 10 miles. Grandfather Mountain and Linville Falls are also nearby.

Elk Laurel is a large family home, and we ask that you respect the total number of occupants allowed. This is NOT a party house. Loud, boisterous events will not be tolerated, as the neighbors will contact the authorities. Thank you for your consideration as noise travels through the mountains easily.

Great for families

We had 2 families meet up here. We had plenty of room. Everything was clean and in great working order. The hot tub was ready for us. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Overall a great experience. The house was as it appears in the photos. The location was accessible but still felt secluded. The only issue was that the AC was a little weak for August, but the air outside was cool enough that it wasn't a big deal.

Wonderful mountain retreat

This cabin was beautifully furnished and immaculate and supplied with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. My family enjoyed the pool table, the ping pong table, the hot tub, the fire pit, the wraparound deck, and all of the TV's. The place was super cozy and comfortable. We loved it.

Beautiful Property

Our family chose the cabin for the size and access to the Highland Games. The cabin exceeded our expectations! Extremely clean with comfy bedding, hot tub towels, fully stocked kitchen, fun game room and beautiful views! Our family made wonderful memories during our visit!

Graduation Getaway

Family hub for graduation get together. Quiet time on an endless porch, kitchen had anything you could possibly need to prepare a great meal for many, so many things to keep everyone entertained…. We will be back soon!

It was NOT cleaned AFTER prior guests

I hesitated to write a review but I felt it was important to inform others. The place was big and nice. It accommodated our large party. And the location was perfect! However, upon arrival the place had NOT been CLEANED after the last guest! I was embarrassed for my family and friends. I called the number and it took me 30 minutes to get ahold of someone. Once I got ahold of someone her child was screaming in the back ground and she stated 'that I (me not her) had a bad connection'. She told me she filed a compliant and someone will call me back. I did tell her that I didn't want someone to come clean as it would be strange as we sit here while they clean, we had our dog with us therefore we couldn't really go anywhere for several hours. BUT I needed cleaning supplies, fresh bedding and fresh towels ASAP so we could clean the place. My mother and her friend (both in their 80s) were there so we needed to clean the property ASAP due to COVID and the unknown! 2 hours later...NO ONE ever called nor came to the property, I called them back - at this time it is 7PM. BTW we drove from FL and STL both 9 - 10 hour drives. When I spoke to someone at 7 PM she said 'I see the pictures you sent' I told her no one asked me to send pictures, so how do you have pictures. She proceeded to let me know that the ticket was not filed correctly either. I asked for a manager to call me back, of course that never happened. Finally, at 9 PM 2 very nice ladies came with fresh towels, bedding and cleaning supplies, my understanding they didn't even work for the cleaning crew who was supposed to clean the place. I asked for a full refunded, it didn't happen they did reimburse me for some but it was not nearly enough. Oh and manager never called nor did I get a reason why the place had not been cleaned. And we could not use the hot tub since it had not been cleaned either, what a waste. I will NEVER book a property that is hosted by Caroline Cabin Rentals again! As a matter of fact, we just booked another week in Banner Elk for late May / early June and any search that came back with hosted by Caroline Cabin Rental I skipped. Pam Schneider

wrap around porch was awesome

The house was perfect for our needs. We loved the wrap around porch. The living space and kitchen were both nice and big. It’s a very dog friendly house supplied with water bowls for your fur children. The house didn’t smell like other places that are pet friendly. We enjoyed our time very much.

Perfect house for our family reunion!

My husbands side of the family came from Virginia and SC to meet up for a few days. Sleeping arrangements were perfect for our 8 adults and 4 kids. Home was well appointed and kids loved the ping pong table and hot tub. The firepit we roasted s’mores on was also a nice perk! We fell in love with Banner Elk while there too- such a cute town.

Great cabin!

Nice and clean cabin with lots of sleeping room and a well stocked kitchen. The drive up is not for the faint of heart though. No “quick runs” down the mountain to the store, so come prepared!

Beautiful Property in Need of Some Repairs

First and foremost, this cabin is beautiful inside and out. We took advantage of both the hot tub and fire pit, and I would book again in a heartbeat. However, several appliance upgrades/ repairs are needed. First, the hot water just frequently and randomly cuts out. The worst of this happened when I was soaped up in the shower forcing me to run outside naked and jump in the hot tub to rinse. The second major issue is the oven. It takes forever to preheat, but more importantly it is so greasy that hot grease drips out the bottom of the door while it's on. I tried to clean but the self-clean didn't work. The ice dispenser didn't work either. The dryer is on its last leg, which is likely due to the lint filter not being cleaned. The lint was more than an inch thick in the filter. Lastly, the home was in need of a deep Spring Clean. I don't want to say it was dirty but could use some dusting in certain places, and the basement tub was dirty (which looked like it was just from lack of use for an extended period). The bottom line is this property deserves every bit of my 4 star overall rating, and I hope to return next year with repaired or new appliances.

January Beech Mountain Vacation

This vacation was a Christmas gift for our children and grandchildren. We are a family not 13. We enjoyed the cabin. The grandchildren aged 17 to 6 enjoyed the ping pong table. The three levels of The cabin provided plenty of options for everyone to be entertained. It snowed before we arrived so the cabin road and driveway were a little bit of a challenge but the rental agency provided emails with detailed recommendations for travel which we appreciated. Needless, today the families loved Breech Mountain skiing and snowboarding!

Great place! Loved the view and atmosphere. However, the property has about 5 puzzles total to be put together. 4 of those 5 are missing pieces. One in particular is missing about 100 pieces from a 550 piece puzzle and no longer has a box or picture to go by. I would recommend getting some new puzzles to save future guests the torture of attempting to find puzzle pieces that don't exist for a puzzle without a picture. That being said, we had a great time! The whole puzzle thing didn't put a damper on the experience. :)

The only thing which is minor is the bathroom tub in the master bedroom, the water did not stay hot so we could not take nice hot baths. Other then that everything was wonderful we stayed an extra day it was so nice. The staff was very nice and the cabin was very welcoming and clean.

Nice house for large group

The house is very nice and good for a group. I will list the pros first. Pros Bedrooms and living space nice and spacious Kitchen was equipped with bowls, dishes and pots . Internet worked well Driveway was good and not much of a climb to house. Garage was great with ping pong table and enough trash cans. Overall the house is nice rental. Now for the cons: The knives are very dull even to cut a tomato but there were plenty of knives. Would recommend a knife sharpener. The hot water went out after a 15 min shower Refrigerator freezes anything in bottom bin even though it was on recommended setting, Two right burners stove do not work well, one gets too hot and can't adjust it ( the right back one) and the right front one seems to stay on a low setting regardless of what the setting is. Downstairs toilet does not work well, bubbles when flushed and sprays water. Light bulb out over the bar. The Master bath shower had hair on walls. The house is about 30 min away from Boone and 45 from Blowing Rock but close to Grandfather Mountain. I mention this so you will know about these things and for possible repair. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the rental.

The cabin is lovely and the area is lovely. Easy access to cabin. I can see why it gets so many stars. In general it was great but there are always a few things that could be fixed. 1. Only one cycle can be used on the washing machine. 3. We could not adjust the temperature in the game room. It was so cold my grandson had to use many blankets. 4. There were loose water pipes in wall (very noisy) and upstairs toilet constantly ran. 5. Had to call office because door wouldn't unlock upon arrival and even the repairman couldn't open it himself. Thankful that he gave us the code to the key. 6. Could use new teflon fry pans. 7. Furniture in living room definitely needs to be cleaned or even replaced. 8. Needs more seating for a cabin that fits 14 people. When a cabin is that size there should be seating for all. Dining room table only fits 8. Only place we could all get together was the porch which is absolutely lovely. 9. Advertisement of cabin is deceiving. Says 14 acres with trails and long range views but there aren't any walking trails for the area and the photos make you believe the views are from cabin when in fact they are not from the cabin. Just the road leading to top is for walking and the view at the top of road is only good view which is fantastic. 10. We were asked to give names and ages of guests because you "must manage relationships with neighbors and property owners" when in fact neighbors were shooting off guns and dogs were running loose. 11. Message on refrigerator was very handy but just a suggestion that you put location of trash sites in area. 12. The main complaint was that I was very disappointed when Covid began and I called and was told that the owner would not return the deposit for the cabin and we were not given an option of rescheduling to another date. Because of this, we are looking for a cabin for next year but it will not be Elk Laurel. Thank you to staff for answering my questions the couple of times I called.

Elk laurel review

Our stay at 184 elk laurel was nice. We enjoyed skiiing and spending time with our daughters and their husbands. However, it was very inconvenient that the hot water wasn't working properly until the 3rd day of our stay. Thanks Christina
