A First!

My husband and I were looking forward to spending several days in Trolley Square visiting our daughter's family that live within walking distance to Gilpin Grand. We have rented a different unit in the same building from the same host before with no problem. Not true on this visit. We had our first negative experience with a VRBO rental. The unit is as pictured, as described and is in a very walkable area to restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a park. Upon our arrival, we found the unit had not been cleaned after the previous guests, and there were several things that needed repair in the bathroom. After spending an hour on the phone with multiple people, we were told that the cleaning team couldn't come until the next morning and that there was no available unit to relocate us. Two options were presented: go outside, around back, and use a keycode they would give us access to the basement so we could wash the linens, OR, use a keycode to a neighboring unit under renovation and get clean linens for the night. We chose the second option. The cleaning team did arrive the following morning, were SUPER and indicated they were never informed of our arrival. Our communication with the host/customer service was good and they compensated us by refunding the cleaning fee. We made the best of the situation and still had a lovely visit with our nearby family.

Quiet Stay

The location of the property was perfect. Very quiet area, close to a bunch of restaurants and stores. The property itself was super easy to check into. A few cons about the property: There were no cleaning products so if anything happens or spills there’s no way to clean up. There was literally only 2 towels and 2 wash cloths for 2 people, nothing extra. The blinds were too short for the windows, so outsiders could see inside the living room area. The pillows smelled like sweat as though someone had already slept on them. The Internet went out for a period of time (not to the fault of the host) which was a huge inconvenience because EVERYTHING in the unit runs on WiFi. The host did give us an extended 2 hours for checkout due to the inconvenience and communicated with us efficiently to assist with the WiFi issue.
